This document describes an ornamental fish breeding system that uses machine learning to classify the state of fish as calm, active, fearful, or eating. The system was trained using video data from an aquarium and achieved accuracy rates above 66% for each state. An evaluation found the system increased observer interest and engagement with the fish compared to a conventional aquarium. Future work ideas are discussed to improve the system.
