EXPLORE
THE WORLD
Which country do you think has
the most number of Nihongojin?
JAPAN
PHILIPPINES JAPAN
PHILIPPINES JAPAN
SIMILARITIES
DIFFERENCES
PHILIPPINES JAPAN
 Both countries are
made up of islands.
 Both countries are
surrounded by seas
and an ocean.
 Both countries are
located on the Pacific
Belt of Fire.
SIMILARITIES
- Japan is located
north of the
Philippines.
- Japan is located
east of the
Philippines.
- Japan has an
elongated shape.
- Japan is located
north of the
Philippines.
- Japan is located
east of the
Philippines.
- Japan has an
elongated shape.
DIFFERENCES DIFFERENCES
Based on the images presented, what did you
discover on the geographical location and features
of Japan?
Questio
n
Japan and the Philippines have similar
location and geographical features, which
explains why both countries have the same
kinds of land forms and bodies of water.
That is also why the places shown in the
pictures look very similar to the ones we
have in the Philippines.

DIFFERENCES DIFFERENCES
How about the climate in Japan
and Philippines? Is there any
difference?
•-It must be colder in Japan compared to the
Philippines.
•-They must have 4 seasons; winter, spring,
summer and fall.
•-Temperatures in the northern and southern part
of Japan must be different.
•-Plants in Japan must be different from the ones
in here in the Philippines.
FOUR SEASONS
IN JAPAN
1) Do you think each season comes at the same
time all over Japan?
2) Do you think the temperature or the seasons
change abruptly or gradually?
Questio
n
- Winter comes faster in the
northern part while it comes late
in the southern part.
- The climate and seasons
change gradually.
- Unlike in the Philippines, because of
the elongated and slanting shape of
Japan, the climate and seasons there
gradually changes from North to South
or from South to North.
Sakura/Cherry Blossoms
starts blooming from the
southern part to the
northern part of Japan. This
means that the warm
weather starts from the
southern part going up to
the northern part of the
archipelago.
It begins from the
north and then slowly
goes down to the
south, because it
starts to get cold from
the north going to
south.
•Season gradually changes over the
year. Approximately, Spring occurs
around April to May, Summer around
June to August, Autumn around
September to November andWinter
is experienced around December to
February
List down things in your
homes/surroundings/neighborhood that
are related to Japan. You may also
interview other people for more
information.
