Iseum
It is part of a grand 2nd-century complex of the two
temples dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis by
Roman legionnaries.
Smidt Museum
You can see the private collection of Lajos Smidt:
antique weapons, furniture, fans, pipes, clocks, Roman
coins…
Savaria Museum
You can see Roman altars, stone torsos, blue-glass vials
from Savaria….
Synagogue
It is a twin-towered Moorish building. A plaque marks the
spot from where 4228 of our Jewish brothers and sisters
were deported to Auschwitz on 4 July 1944.
Cathedral
It was designed by Melchior Hefele for Bishop Szily in
1791. In World War II it was ruined by bombs but it was
rebuilt.
Szombathely Gallery
It is a modern Art Gallery.
Vas Museum Village
It is an open-air museum with some 18th and 19th
century farmhouses moved from more than two dozen
villages in the Őrség region.
Historical park
Each year at the end of August we can take part in the
famous Savaria Carnival. The town revive the ancient
Roman times.

football club called Haladás. Many people
visit their matches.
