DRUG ASSESSMENT
As you probably know Syncrosome offers Advanced services in CNS efficacy with models in
Parkinson and Stroke diseases but also in CNS-PK thanks to microdialysis and CSF
sampling. Microdialysis is an in vivo technique allowing continuous sampling of molecules
in brain extracellular space in the same animal.
Associated to a detection technique, Microdialysis allows the monitoring of
Neurotransmitter such as Dopamine, Serotonin, Nor-Adrenaline but also drug delivery in a
particular brain area. Such a technique is really interesting to monitor the basal levels of
neurotransmitter as well as pharmacologically stimulated release.
Microdialysis is a semi-invasive sampling technique that is used for continuous
measurement of free, unbound analyte concentrations in the extracellular fluid of virtually any
tissue. Analytes may include endogenous molecules such as neurotransmitter to assess their
biochemical functions in the body, or exogenous compounds to determine their distribution
within the body.
The microdialysis technique requires the insertion of a small microdialysis probe into the
tissue of interest. The microdialysis probe is designed to mimic a blood capillary perfused
with a physiological fluid leading free exchanges of molecules in both directions.
Depending on the study design animals can be in awake or anesthetized conditions.
