Susan Kare is an American graphic designer known for creating many of the interface elements and icons for the original Apple Macintosh in the 1980s. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College and New York University, and began her career at Apple where she designed thousands of icons, typefaces, and original marketing material for the Macintosh OS. Some of her most recognizable works include the Chicago, Geneva, and Monaco typefaces, as well as the Clarus the Dogcow, Happy Mac, and Command key icons.
