- Observing in the health center
- Students decided an online course is best.
- The divided parts and created a PowerPoint of different content with each person being responsible for a section
- Alderman Library and students looking for help
- Studying ergonomics
- They found Coursera and me to make sure what they built was an OER
- Professor not enthusiastic
- Hard meeting to create the first course shell in Coursera
- Started to chunk out content based on PowerPoint team presentation
- Then we sent them off to create the online course
- Shocker. Their content was in but it didn’t flow and was hard to understand
- Out with the old, in with the new
- K blocked out content and made sample videos
- Back to step 1 of instructional design and working the course as ONE course and not a bunch of modules by different people stapled together
- ONE narrator to tie together all the content
- Introducing the course and setting expectations for what the students will do in this online course
- Then we worked on assessments – what would they learn, how would it be evaluated
- Literally running out of time – these kids are graduating
- We sent them off again but now they were older, wiser, and more coordinated
- They went through and updated content, making it more consistent in look and feel with same narrator
- They used OER and curated it for the learner so they were choosing great tools to help others
- They GRADUATED
- New course landing page but private until CME is determined and since they graduated it is low priority.
