This document discusses the use of RFID (radio-frequency identification) in healthcare. It addresses several benefits of RFID such as improving patient safety, streamlining operations, and increasing competitive advantage. However, it also notes challenges like the historical high costs of RFID tags and issues around data management, security, and privacy. The document concludes that while adoption of RFID in healthcare was initially slow due to costs, use is accelerating as tag prices decline and RFID provides benefits for applications like infection control.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - Cross-Border Data Transferspi
The General Data Protection Regulation will Impact all health data processing companies because of the growing importance of customer and patient data to the manufacturer’s business. All companies have to be compliant by 25th May 2018.
This presentation gives an overview of all the possibilities included in the GDPR to allow Cross-Border Data Transfers to third countries.
The Quality Metrics Program is an FDA initiative aiming to collect data on certain manufacturing processes from biopharmaceutical companies through an electronic portal.
This presentation describes the impact of the program and its challenges for the industry.

Danone Nutricia Case - The Data-Driven Mother's Journey by Christopher Nash, ...Komfo
With context, you can understand exactly where customers are on their buying journey, and give them useful, relevant content at the point when they’ll be most receptive to it. Danone-Nutricia is at the forefront of Context Marketing, driving an incredible eight-fold growth in month-over-month revenues since launching its “Mother’s Journey” program.
In light of high demands for its formula product, Nutricia-Danone realized that the only way to effectively retain and service its customers and protect its market share was to properly identify buyers.
Nutricia-Danone implemented Gigya’s Registration-as-a-Service (RaaS) and Social Login across Nutricia web properties, including formula vending machines located throughout the Netherlands, bringing legacy technology into the world of connected devices and the Internet of Things.
Issues in the case study of "Global Knowledge Management at Danone" has been discussed. The issues are:
1- Creating knowledge cultures
2- Knowledge application
3- To extend the Networking Attitude

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a convenient technology employed in various applications. The
success of these RFID applications depends heavily on the quality of the data stream generated by RFID
readers. Due to various anomalies found predominantly in RFID data it limits the widespread adoption of
this technology. Our work is to eliminate the anomalies present in RFID data in an effective manner so that
it can be applied for high end applications. Our approach is a hybrid approach of middleware and
deferred because it is not always possible to remove all anomalies and redundancies in middleware. The
processing of other anomalies is deferred until the query time and cleaned by business rules. Experimental
results show that the proposed approach performs the cleaning in an effective manner compared to the
existing approaches.
Labour Cost Savings
Accenture estimates, as reported in Lacy (2005), that the savings in receipt is 6.5%, while 100% of the labour in physical inventory count could be eliminated.
Inventory Reduction
Economist (2003) cites IBM’s estimates to be at 5 to 25%,
Shrinkage and Out-of-Stock Reduction
First, by having visibility so that the inventory record corresponds closer to actual inventory, replenishment can be more accurate, leading to fewer stock outs. Second, the ability to accurately monitor inventory can reduce the process failures, prevent misplacements, and avoid frauds,1 leading to a direct reduction of inventory shrinkage. IBM’s estimate (Alexander et al. 2002) is that shrinkage can reduce by 2/3

RFID Based Warehouse Management of Perishable ProductsIOSR Journals
Abstract: The changing global market scenario, high level of competition, and faster obsolescence of
perishable products due to short self life and changing customer demand are among the key challenges faced by
perishable supply chains. Supply chains need to compete with growing variety of products, short delivery time,
higher cycle service level, high quality and lower cost. Perishability imposes an intense pressure on managers
as it adds an additional cost of disposal of outdated items, leading to out-of-stock situations and also loss of
company faith. These problems are arising mostly due to the lack of information at every stage of the supply
chains. The inadequate information about product quality, quantity, demand variability, product availability
and lead times creates the bullwhip effect (BWE) at all stages and chains leads to the mismanagement.
RFID technologies, with the appropriate IT infrastructure, would help major distributors and manufacturers, as
well as health-care system, defence industries, and global supply chains in which products and product
shipments must be traced and identified in a non-contact, wireless fashion using a computer network. This
paper presents the impact of RFID in warehouse management of perishable products. It provides mathematical
framework to asses the benefits of RFID in warehouse management. It helps management in the variety of ways
including improvement in receiving and shipping processes, reduction in cycle counting efforts, reduction in
stock outs/excess inventory, decreased counterfeiting, decreased returns, and reduction in inventory loss due to
shrinkage and obsolescence. A sensitivity analysis has been presented at the end of paper which shows the
compound effect of RFID, reduction in lead time and lead time variability. In all scenarios inventory level is
reduced by certain percentage by incorporating RFID.

Abstract
The aging population, prevention of chronic diseases, and outbreaks of infectious diseases are some of the major challenges of our human society. Health monitoring (HM) is the practical application of safety monitors to a complicated system in order to ensure either prediction of a potential mishap before it occurs. Drugs playing a major role in the health care and maintaining the health. Most of the people do not use the prescription for identifying the correct medicine which may lead to improper health condition and some mishaps. At present there is no automatic system for intimating the user to take the drugs at right time. In this paper we are presenting the system that can deliver drugs (medicines) to the patient on time without any other support and also setting a alarm to intimate the patient to take the right medicine at right time.

• The availability of investment capital
11. RFID is becoming more of a reality in healthcare. Over the
coming year’s adoption will accelerate. The cost of
implementation always remains a major barrier to wider
adoption of any technology. RFID tags have long been regarded
as expensive, particularly those with active chips, and this
has been a strong disincentive to early adoption, particularly
as tags represent only part of the cost.
Initially the adoption of RFID was slow due to the cost factor.
Now with the increase use of RFID the cost have come down
considerably. In some instances, adoption will be slow to
displace barcoding, but in some applications, such as
infection control, there will be rapid adoption of
RFID.
