Microsoft conducted a virtual internship program where participants learned about the company's values of respect, integrity, and accountability. The internship involved tasks such as researching Microsoft's history and culture, setting goals for the internship, and exploring how Microsoft applies its values through a focus on innovation, diversity and inclusion, social responsibility, and artificial intelligence. Participants analyzed case studies demonstrating Microsoft's values in action and shared which stories they found most inspiring.
When you're starting or running a company, how do you choose technology? The prevailing advice du jour is something along the lines of "use the best tool for the job." This is obviously right, but it is also devoid of meaning in an unfortunate way that lets people define "best" and "job" as myopically as they like.
You are a designer, or a coder, or a manager. Maybe you are even a unicorn. But you are not a data scientist. Still, you want to get more out of the mountain of data you have about your site or app to create a better user experience. No problem. Learn a process of data thinking that will help you to analyze, visualize, and really use data about your website or app without all the bothersome math and python programming.

Gadgets, Games and Google For Learning South FL PresentationKarl Kapp
This presentation to the South Florida ASTD chapter. The session answers questions like:
What is the best way to design instruction for today's technology tools and for the creation and delivery of e-learning?
What tools are most effective for delivering what types of training?
Attend this session and get insight of . . .
how organizations are leveraging Smartphones for performance support and mobile learning,
how game-based learning is being designed to teach everyone from firefighters to sales reps to call center employees, and
how quick searches and meta-data are changing the landscape of how employees learn and their information expectations.
Gamification is transforming the way businesses engage customers and motivate employees. By applying the same principles that inspire people to play games (achievements, status, and rewards) to websites and other online experiences, businesses can dramatically increase the size of their audience, boost engagement, and increase revenue.
This month, Kasey McCurdy, Director of Engineering at Bunchball, will discuss how game mechanics can engage your fans and users, increase customer loyalty and sales, and motivate employees and partners.
Bunchball is the industry leader in gamification and has provided solutions for customers like Warner Bros., Comcast, NBC Universal, ABC Television, Stella & Dot and LiveOps.
Kasey will cover the history of gamification, why it works and sometimes doesn’t, and how the combination of data, motivation, and gamification can strengthen loyalty. He’ll also discuss customer and employee engagement, how to motivate the unmotivated, and what the future of human motivation looks like.
Gamification in health behaviour change produces muddled results. Why? Because game design elements, behaviour change techniques, etc. are too decontextualised and underspecified to guide design implementation. Chapter 14: Question 3. How do human capital, structural capital, and customer capital differ?
ANSWER.
Human capital, structural capital and customer capital are three basic fundamentals of any organization. They differ in their roles playing for that organization. Human capital is the efficiency of a human being on the basis of its skills; more the human is skilled and efficient results in more human capital. On the structural capital is the efficiency of the organizations to provide environment in which they can increase the efficiencies of humans working for them such as data, systems, knowledge and designs. The customer capital is the relationship bond with organization products, stronger the bond between the customer and the products results in a stronger customer capital.
Chapter 14: Question 8. What approach did the energy company take to encourage knowledge sharing among its 15 business units?
ANSWER.
The approach that the energy company took to encourage sharing among its 15 business units was establishing peer groups from various units. The idea was to have employees share his or her knowledge without the involvement of leadership to avoid political aspects. Since this was unsuccessful it was decided to provide a human portal for employees where they can ask questions regarding the problems they faced with their customers and employees from other business units provides a solution to them, its kind ...

POST1
Ten Questions that challenge the status quo at my current workplace:
1. What if we allowed customers 24/7 access to our model homes, would this increase our sales?
2. What if started a program that allowed customers to stay for one night in our model homes so that they could get a feel for the home (see if it’s a good match)?
3. What if home loans were easier to get and builders covered more costs for the customers?
4. What if my organization stopped focusing intensively on the sale and more on the actual customers’ needs as a homeowner?
5. What if all employees tried to help one another versus helping themselves? What affect would this type of partnership have on the company and its customers?
6. What if we built more than the traditional clubhouse, pool house, and common areas in our communities? What if we offered something that isn’t common such as a community go-kart track or skating rink?
7. What if we decorated the exterior of our central office, including our showroom, in themes each week to excite and attract customer’s attention? Imagine the word-of-mouth advertising we would generate.
8. What if we built a home for the local homeless people to stay in and take up donations for them to get back on their feet?
9. What if we gave one house a year away to someone in need? This type of generosity may attract customers who can appreciate us giving back to the community.
10. What if washed people cars, cut their grass, take out their trash, etc. in exchange for a donation to a local charity?
The one question I chose is #5: “What if all employees tried to help one another versus helping themselves? What affect would this type of partnership have on the company and its customers?”

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

8. MODULE 3 - CAMPUS TO CORPORATE: BUSINESS FOUNDATION SKILLS
• Task 1 - Get to know Microsoft’s values – Respect, Integrity and Accountability
• Task 2 - Explore Microsoft’s commitment and approach to putting values into action
• Task 3 - Explore Microsoft’s cultural transformation
• Task 4 - Discover Microsoft’s Four Solutions that enable digital transformation
9. TASK 1 - VALUES ACTIVITY
There are six scenarios – two scenarios for each Microsoft Value - Respect, Integrity and Accountability. Please read through
each scenario, then select the most appropriate response that would best demonstrate the value in action from the multiple
choices. Please highlight the most appropriate response.
Respect
Scenario 1
You are in a team meeting and a new idea is presented by a colleague for improving efficiency. You don’t believe it will work, as it
directly negatively impacts on one of the key processes that is needed to ensure outcomes happen on time and to budget. You
feel uncomfortable as they begin to explain all the great reasons why this new process should be implemented, and the rest of
the team seem interested in learning more and seem to be on board with the idea. You want to tell them why you don’t think the
idea will work. How do you share your views whilst demonstrating the value of Respect?
a) Say nothing, as it’s not fair to interrupt and shut the idea down. You don’t want to discourage them as continuous
improvement is important. They will find out at some point why it won’t work.
b)Suggest they talk to other colleagues to get their input on the idea.
c)Tell them directly why the idea won’t work. This will save time and mean everyone can focus on other important issues that
require addressing.
d) Listen to their idea fully to learn more about the benefits and to see if your concerns have been addressed. Ask them probing
questions to help them identify where they may need to direct their efforts to ensure the benefits they intend to achieve are
realized.
Record your rationale for your response:
The last option is the best answer to demonstrate Respect ,as I am showing curiosity to their idea, not shutting them early and
really seeking to understand their thinking and also encourage them to think more deeply about what they are proposing. If they
haven’t considered all the impacts of their idea, I am treating them with dignity by asking questions to help them identify areas
they may need to consider further. If my outline concerns in a way that recognizes the value of their intended purpose i.e.,
creating efficiency, I will demonstrate a respectful and supportive approach.
This is the first scenario .Other five scenarios are similar to this scenario(Respect, Integrity, Accountability)
10. TASK 2 – VALUES IN ACTION
Review the information provided in the Additional Resources section and make sure you read about each of the focus areas that
demonstrate our values in action:
Innovation
Diversity & Inclusion
Corporate Social Responsibility
Artificial Intelligence
Trustworthy Computing
Select two focus areas (out of the five) that you are most interested in. Find a story for each of the two focus areas that you
found the most inspiring, thought-provoking or note-worthy. Write a short paragraph outlining how the story you read
demonstrated the value in action and why it appealed to you. Provide a link to the story you chose.
INNOVATION

work/?OCID=msr_blog_remote_hero
This is how the story demonstrated the value in action:
I found all the different examples in this article about the ways that Microsoft are helping the challenge of home working to be
fascinating – especially given how important this has been recently. There are many examples of innovation throughout, but the
one that really stood out and resonated with me was the ‘accelerated instant replay (AIR)’. This is a great example of innovation
at a time where it is really needed and is adding real value to a real problem many people are currently being faced with.
Artificial Intelligence
The link to the story is: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/blog/training-deep-control-policies-for-the-real-
world/?OCID=msr_blog_controlreal_ai
This is how the story demonstrated the value in action:
To understand how AI is being used more closely map the way that the human brain interprets processes is amazing. The way
that it can help ‘search and rescue’ to find people and items more quickly is such a great example of the benefits of AI and shows
the advances in this technology. It was interesting to read how this progressed and how it has been used for ‘out of the box’
thinking from the way drones were initially being used. It was interesting to read how they approached this by dividing the
problem into two tasks and the challenges they had to consider. This is such a powerful example of bringing this value to life and
really seeing it in action.

to be less expensive and more secure, reliable, and flexible than on-premises servers. With the cloud, equipment downtime due to maintenance, theft, or damage is
almost non-existent. You can scale your compute and storage resources—up or down—almost instantly when your needs change on Azure. Also, you typically pay
only for the services you use, which provides a level of convenience and cost-control that’s almost impossible to achieve with on-site infrastructure. Azure gives you
the freedom to build, manage, and deploy applications on a massive, global network using your preferred tools and frameworks.
•
• The benefits of Azure are:
• • Azure provides solutions across all industries and can be tailored for your specific needs.
• • It supports open source technologies so you can use the tools and technologies you prefer. This gives you choice.
• • There is no upfront cost – you only pay for what you use. Azure provides flexible purchasing and pricing options for all your cloud scenarios.
• • Azure is the only consistent hybrid cloud, has more regions than any other cloud provider, delivers unparalleled developer productivity and offers more
comprehensive compliance coverage.
