This document outlines an online course at Southern Utah University (SUU) called LM1010 Learning Outcomes that teaches students research skills and academic integrity. The course uses Canvas and is divided into modules that include assignments, quizzes, and a final exam to assess students' understanding of locating appropriate sources, using the library, developing search strategies, and evaluating information ethically. 2. LM1010 Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing this course a student should:
 Appreciate the expectations of college level research, be
aware of SUU policies on academic honesty, identify what
constitutes plagiarism, and recognize the social and ethical
issues of using information.
 Use the research process to develop focused research
questions and search statements to search for, locate, and
choose appropriate information sources for their research needs.
 Understand how information is organized, use search strategies to
effectively use library resources (catalogs, article
databases, and Internet search engines) to locate and retrieve
information resources.
 Identify and apply evaluation criteria to assess the quality
of information retrieved and demonstrate the importance of
properly and correctly citing information sources.
