INTRODUCTION
 Owner and Founder – Fred DeLuca
 At 17 he wanted to become a medical Doctor, to
help pay for his education he opened a
submarine shop suggested by a family friend
 Dr. Peter Buck gave a $1,000 loan and became
Fred’s partner in the business
 First store opened in Bridgeport Connecticut U.S
August 1965
 They set a goal to open 32 stores in 10 years
 By 1974 they owned and operated 16 shops
 Realizing they wouldn’t reach their goal in time
they began franchising launching the Subway
brand

 Submarine Sandwiches and its franchises have
been around for 68 years
 Today the Subway brand is the worlds largest
Submarine Sandwich chain with more than 44,000
location around the world
 Fred DeLuca died in 2015 from leukemia at the age
of 67
 From then on his sister Suzanne Greco became
CEO of the Company

METHODOLOGY
I conducted my research by searching for subway in
all social medias and in google to find as many places
as possible.

 Social Media Sites:
 Twitter
 Facebook
 YouTube
 Reddit
 Pinterest
 Subway.com – official website
 Wikipedia – get other articles
RESULTS
Subway uses social media to their advantage to
promote themselves and get their name and deals out
to people to all generation, young old ect. All social
media tools are effective, if used right and subway does
that.
Their official website gives viewers
• Their complete menu
• Deals and offers
• How to contact them
• Notifies how to and if there are jobs available
• Gives an overview of the history
Reddit
• Allows costumers to communicate with each other
from all over

• Promotes to the younger generation
• Tells when there are deals of offers on
• Create skits to promote the company in an
appealing way
• Costumers can explain complaints or concerns
I learned that subway is much bigger than I new and
its start is interesting, with Fred DeLuca being only 17
years old and starting this business only to get some
extra money.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1) The first recommendation I would say would be is
promote where they are on social media more, so
that more people are aware and can find out
more.
 For example, in their commercials to say the social
media they use at the end and how to follow tem
2) The second recommendation I would say is to
have more example of how the food is better in
nutrition than other fast food chains.
 For example on their website they should have facts
page about the food and the nutritional value.
