 Subhash Chandra was born on November 30th

 Chandra’s family was engaged in rice trading
 In class 12th he dropped out from the school
 He started vegetable oil unit
 After some time he took the reins of the family
  business and began to export Food grains
 He along with his brothers got into rice trading
  and exports.
 His company used to procure and supply rice to
  Food Corporation of India
 He earned a fortune exporting rice to Russia.
   Subhash Chandra entered into the packaging business
    of in 1981, with Essel Packaging Limited
   It later merged with the Swiss group Propack A.G
   Essel packaging was the first company in India to
    introduce laminated tubes for packaging toothpastes.
   Today, Essel packaging is a world leader in laminated
    tubes with factories in all the five continents
   It has a 38 % market share in toothpaste packaging
    worldwide.
   In 1988, he set up the amusement park known as
    Essel world.
   Maharashtra government of the day was very
    oppressive compelling him to look outside the
    amusement park business for growth
   He wanted to enter a business where there will be minimum
    hindrance between the entertainer and the entertained. This
    made him look at the television business.
   He decided to foray into broadcasting and was successful in
    leasing a transponder on AsiaSat owned by Star TV.
   Subhash Chandra launched Zee Telefilms Limited in October 1992
    India's first private satellite television channel
   Zee TV was the first Indian language channel on the satellite
    television
   Before the launch of Zee TV viewers in India were under the firm
    grip of Doordarshan
   Subhash Chandra and ZEE did face a lot of difficulties in dealing
    with AsiaSat and later even broke away from STAR.
   Today it is among the top 3 General Entertainment channel along
    with Star Plus and Colors.
   Zee TV became the first cable company in India to launch
    Internet over Cable services.
 Zee TV network today has over 30 channels in
  many languages
 9X,Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Zing, TEN Action+, TEN
  Cricket, TEN Sports, Zee Premiere, Zee Action,
  Zee Classic, Zee Smile, Zee Jagran, Zee Trendz,
  Zee Café, Zee Drama etc
 As a network they have the largest number of
  viewers and market-share in India.
 Zee TV has also launched regional channels in
  several regional languages
 Today, the Zee Network reaches out to 32
  million homes across India, besides reaching out
  to countries like USA, the Caribbean islands,

  Australia and New Zealand.
 Subhash  Chandra brought concept of online
  lottery to India through his company Playwin
  Infravest Private Limited.
 It was one of the first such lotteries to be
  opened in India.
 Established in November 2001, it has
  operations in many Indian towns
 Playwin had its brief period of success, later
  got mired in various legal troubles, as many
  states banned lotteries.
 Today it is only allowed to play in
  Maharashtra and Goa
 Essel group also has a moderately
