This document discusses teacher talking time (TTT) and student talking time (STT) in language lessons. TTT refers to the amount of time the teacher spends talking, while STT is the time students spend talking. Too much TTT can make lessons teacher-centered and prevent students from practicing the language. However, TTT can be positive when used for storytelling or instructions. There is no single correct balance, as cultural expectations and individual student needs vary. Overall, teachers should be aware of how and when they use TTT to maximize student engagement and language practice.

17. I’ve been involved in teaching English as a Foreign Language for many
years. I love working with students and many years of experience have
helped me realise how to best assist learners with achieving their
educational goals. My teaching experience is reinforced by multiple
qualifications that I have gained throughout my career. After finishing my
Master’s Degree in English Philology in 2009, I have completed a CELTA
course. Since then I’ve been undergoing multiple teacher training sessions
to enhance my teaching performance. I’ve been also involved with Blended
Learning, which is increasing in popularity and makes students’ learning
experience even more fascinating. I’m currently doing an Educational
Enquiry module with the Open University as I aim to enrich my knowledge
even more. I always look forward to maximising students’ learning
experience and making sure they achieve the best they possibly can!
