In 1965 AD, the Tay Road Bridge opened as the longest bridge in the world at just over one mile. Scotland speaks three languages: Gaelic, English, and Welsh. The Scottish Government is responsible for health, education, justice, and other day-to-day issues. About 65% of Scotland's population is Christian. Scotland has a changeable climate with both sunny and rainy weather. Typical Scottish foods include haggis and porridge. Popular festivals are the Edinburgh Fringe, Hogmanay, and Hebrides celebrations

The Remembrance Day ceremony in Hong Kong has become politically controversial following the handover of sovereignty from Britain to China. Traditionally organized by the British Legion and attended by the British governor, this year the Chinese chief executive and People's Liberation Army declined to participate due to criticism that the poppies, medals, and flags were too colonial. While organizers tried to portray it as a community event, official endorsement was lost. Next year, the Hong Kong government plans to hold its own commemorative ceremony linked to a Chinese festival instead.
