Towards Permanently Resolving The Niger Delta Crisis
Sustainable peace and security remains a key challenge in the Niger Delta region. But the Niger Delta question seems to defy all known solutions. Due to fact that the parties are not sincere at getting the issues resolved because certain individual(s) or group(s) are benefiting or the government lacks the will power to confront the problem politically. Despite the region justified for over 80% of government revenue, 95 % of export receipts and 90% of foreign exchange earnings, the region still nursing with communal tensions, political competition, organized criminality, and resource-based conflicts, militancy, piracy, cultism, election violence, communal violence, armed robbery, kidnapping, unemployment, poverty, land disputes and lack of infrastructures varying at state and Local Government Area (LGA) levels. The study therefore recommended: the development areas should be funded by the Federal Government through direct budgetary allocations. The development areas would have the mandate to ensure urgent infrastructural and socio- economic transformation of the Niger Delta. They should be domiciled in the oil producing communities, and should carry the locals along in the execution of their mandate. Activities of the development areas should be subjected to periodic review through a feed- back mechanism put in place by the Federal Government to ensure optimal performance, appropriate skill knowledge to ameliorate poverty, strengthening of anti-corruption agencies among others.

Iran is one of the world’s most closely watched nations as a historical entity, about 2.500 years ago, of the Achaemenids Dynasty (559 to 330 BC) period.
The Islamic Republic of Iran (denomination after the revolution in 1979), also know as Persia territory, as historical entity and despite political, religious, and historic dimensions of the society, Iranians maintain a deep connection to their past.
The Iran’s economy is a mirror of the International Community nowadays. Economic policies and decision-making process in economic terms are guests from the international sanctions, particularly the unilateral sanctions from United States of America, which accuse Iran of supporting international terrorism and maintain the nuclear programme as global weapons.
Kinzer et al. (2005: 61) wrote about the impact of sanctions against countries, he said “this isolation has hampered the short and long term growth of its markets, restricted the country´s access to high technology, and impeded foreign investment”.
A form of foreign pressure, sanctions are typically meant to alter the policies of other countries. There is much pessimism on whether they ever work.
The main question, related with this working paper, and we should do is how Iran can trade in the economic global arena, in the contemporary global markets in the sanctions context? Can we found true economic policies in this context and with the contemporary conservative politicians, with the leadership of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, since 2005? Can the economic sanctions destabilize the Iran government, the target of the International Community? Understand the political economy, especially the foreign trade and the impact of the international sanctions in the economy of Iran is the purpose of this paper, with special focus on the United States sanctions, in the line of Marinov (2005).

The US has a population of over 300 million people and its currency is the US Dollar. Some of the national symbols of the US include the bald eagle, the Statue of Liberty, and the White House. The US has a diverse population composed of people from various ethnic and racial backgrounds.
Towards Permanently Resolving The Niger Delta Crisis
Sustainable peace and security remains a key challenge in the Niger Delta region. But the Niger Delta question seems to defy all known solutions. Due to fact that the parties are not sincere at getting the issues resolved because certain individual(s) or group(s) are benefiting or the government lacks the will power to confront the problem politically. Despite the region justified for over 80% of government revenue, 95 % of export receipts and 90% of foreign exchange earnings, the region still nursing with communal tensions, political competition, organized criminality, and resource-based conflicts, militancy, piracy, cultism, election violence, communal violence, armed robbery, kidnapping, unemployment, poverty, land disputes and lack of infrastructures varying at state and Local Government Area (LGA) levels. The study therefore recommended: the development areas should be funded by the Federal Government through direct budgetary allocations. The development areas would have the mandate to ensure urgent infrastructural and socio- economic transformation of the Niger Delta. They should be domiciled in the oil producing communities, and should carry the locals along in the execution of their mandate. Activities of the development areas should be subjected to periodic review through a feed- back mechanism put in place by the Federal Government to ensure optimal performance, appropriate skill knowledge to ameliorate poverty, strengthening of anti-corruption agencies among others.

Iran is one of the world’s most closely watched nations as a historical entity, about 2.500 years ago, of the Achaemenids Dynasty (559 to 330 BC) period.
The Islamic Republic of Iran (denomination after the revolution in 1979), also know as Persia territory, as historical entity and despite political, religious, and historic dimensions of the society, Iranians maintain a deep connection to their past.
The Iran’s economy is a mirror of the International Community nowadays. Economic policies and decision-making process in economic terms are guests from the international sanctions, particularly the unilateral sanctions from United States of America, which accuse Iran of supporting international terrorism and maintain the nuclear programme as global weapons.
Kinzer et al. (2005: 61) wrote about the impact of sanctions against countries, he said “this isolation has hampered the short and long term growth of its markets, restricted the country´s access to high technology, and impeded foreign investment”.
A form of foreign pressure, sanctions are typically meant to alter the policies of other countries. There is much pessimism on whether they ever work.
The main question, related with this working paper, and we should do is how Iran can trade in the economic global arena, in the contemporary global markets in the sanctions context? Can we found true economic policies in this context and with the contemporary conservative politicians, with the leadership of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, since 2005? Can the economic sanctions destabilize the Iran government, the target of the International Community? Understand the political economy, especially the foreign trade and the impact of the international sanctions in the economy of Iran is the purpose of this paper, with special focus on the United States sanctions, in the line of Marinov (2005).
We using the electronic database of The World Factbook published by Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), The Statistical Centre of Iran, World Trade Organization, United Nations and European Union, and a qualitative research based in published academic work until 2003.

Global confidence in the US economy has reached zero, as was
proved by last month’s stock market meltdown. But there is an
enormous anomaly in the US economy above and beyond the
subprime mortgage crisis, the housing bubble and the prospect
of recession: 60 years of misallocation of resources, and
borrowings, to the establishment and maintenance of a militaryindustrial
complex as the basis of the nation’s economic life
The military adventurers in the Bush administration have much
in common with the corporate leaders of the defunct energy
company Enron. Both groups thought that they were the
“smartest guys in the room” — the title of Alex Gibney’s prizewinning
film on what went wrong at Enron. The
neoconservatives in the White House and the Pentagon
outsmarted themselves. They failed even to address the
problem of how to finance their schemes of imperialist wars and
global domination.
As a result, going into 2008, the United States finds itself in the
anomalous position of being unable to pay for its own elevated
living standards or its wasteful, overly large military
establishment. Its government no longer even attempts to
reduce the ruinous expenses of maintaining huge standing
armies, replacing the equipment that seven years of wars have
destroyed or worn out, or preparing for a war in outer space
against unknown adversaries. Instead, the Bush administration
puts off these costs for future generations to pay or repudiate.
This fiscal irresponsibility has been disguised through many
manipulative financial schemes (causing poorer countries to
lend us unprecedented sums of money), but the time of
reckoning is fast approaching.
There are three broad aspects to the US debt crisis. First, in the
current fiscal year (2008) we are spending insane amounts of
money on “defence” projects that bear no relation to the national
security of the US. We are also keeping the income tax burdens
on the richest segment of the population at strikingly low levels.
Second, we continue to believe that we can compensate for the
accelerating erosion of our base and our loss of jobs to foreign
countries through massive military expenditures — “military
Keynesianism” (which I discuss in detail in my book Nemesis:
The Last Days of the American Republic). By that, I mean the
mistaken belief that public policies focused on frequent wars,
huge expenditures on weapons and munitions, and large
standing armies can indefinitely sustain a wealthy capitalist
economy. The opposite is actually true.
Third, in our devotion to militarism (despite our limited
resources), we are failing to invest in our social infrastructure
and other requirements for the long-term health of the US.
These are what economists call opportunity .

From Natural Language to Structured Solr Queries using LLMs
This talk draws on experimentation to enable AI applications with Solr. One important use case is to use AI for better accessibility and discoverability of the data: while User eXperience techniques, lexical search improvements, and data harmonization can take organizations to a good level of accessibility, a structural (or “cognitive” gap) remains between the data user needs and the data producer constraints.
That is where AI – and most importantly, Natural Language Processing and Large Language Model techniques – could make a difference. This natural language, conversational engine could facilitate access and usage of the data leveraging the semantics of any data source.
The objective of the presentation is to propose a technical approach and a way forward to achieve this goal.
The key concept is to enable users to express their search queries in natural language, which the LLM then enriches, interprets, and translates into structured queries based on the Solr index’s metadata.
This approach leverages the LLM’s ability to understand the nuances of natural language and the structure of documents within Apache Solr.
The LLM acts as an intermediary agent, offering a transparent experience to users automatically and potentially uncovering relevant documents that conventional search methods might overlook. The presentation will include the results of this experimental work, lessons learned, best practices, and the scope of future work that should improve the approach and make it production-ready.
