Strategic management is defined as the process by which an organization establishes objectives, formulates strategies to meet those objectives within a specified timeframe, implements strategies, and assesses progress. This involves strategy formulation through establishing intent, analyzing the environment and organization, considering alternatives, and choosing a strategy. It also involves strategy implementation by activating the strategy, structurally and behaviorally implementing it across functions. Finally, strategic management includes controlling and evaluating strategy using metrics to measure performance and take corrective actions through internal and external reviews.
