The boy ordered a plain dish of ice cream at a coffee shop instead of an ice cream sundae so that he would have enough money left to leave a tip for the waitress. When the waitress came back after the boy had finished and paid, she began to cry upon finding two nickels and five pennies left as a tip beside the empty dish. The boy demonstrated caring for others despite his limited means.

Shame
Dick Gregory
I never learned hate at home, or shame. I had to go to school for that. I was about seven years old when I got my first big lesson. I was in love with a little girl named Helene Tucker, a light-complexioned little girl with pigtails and nice manners. She was always clean and she was smart in school. I think I went to school then mostly to look at her. I brushed my hair and even got me a little old handkerchief. It was a lady's handkerchief, but I didn't want Helene to see me wipe my nose on my hand.
The pipes were frozen again, there was no water in the house, but I washed my socks and shirt every night. I'd get a pot, and go over to Mister Ben's grocery store, and stick my pot down into his soda machine and scoop out some chopped ice. By evening the ice melted to water for washing. I got sick a lot that winter because the fire would go out at night before the clothes were dry. In the morning I'd put them on, wet or dry, because they were the only clothes I had.
Everybody's got a Helene Tucker, a symbol of everything you want. I loved her for her goodness, her cleanness, her popularity. She'd walk down my street and my brothers and sisters would yell, "Here comes Helene," and I'd rub my tennis sneakers on the back of my pants and wish my hair wasn't so nappy and the white folks' shirt fit me better. I'd run out on the street. If I knew my place and didn't come too close, she'd wink at me and say hello. That was a good feeling. Sometimes I'd follow her all the way home, and shovel the snow off her walk and try to make friends with her momma and her aunts. I'd drop money on her stoop late at night on my way back from shining shoes in the taverns. And she had a daddy, and he had a good job. He was a paperhanger.
I guess I would have gotten over Helene by summertime, but something happened in that classroom that made her face hang in front of me for the next twenty-two years. When I played the drums in high school, it was for Helene, and when I broke track records in college, it was for Helene, and when I started standing behind microphones and heard applause, I wished Helene could hear it too. It wasn't until I was twenty-nine years old and married and making money that I finally got her out of my system. Helene was sitting in that classroom when I learned to be ashamed of myself.
It was on a Thursday. I was sitting in the back of the room, in a seat with a chalk circle drawn around it. The idiot's seat, the troublemaker's seat.
The teacher thought I was stupid. Couldn't spell, couldn't read, couldn't do arithmetic. Just stupid. Teachers were never interested in finding out that you couldn't concentrate because you were so hungry, because you hadn't had any breakfast. All you could think about was noontime; would it ever come? Maybe you could sneak into the cloakroom and steal a bite of some kid's lunch out of a coat pocket. A bite of something. Paste. You can't really make a meal of paste, or put it on bread for a .

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The Boy and his Ice Cream
In the days, when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 - year
old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress
put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the
coins in it.
"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By
now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was
growing impatient.
"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.
The little boy again counted his coins.
"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and
walked away.
The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left.
When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped
down the table.
There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and
five pennies.
You see he couldn't have the sundae, because he wanted enough
left to leave her a tip.
Reflection
* To care or have a though for others who serve you is
indeed a high spiritual quality.
* In a highly materialistic society today, too many people
have little thought about others…they care only for their
own self-interest.

For Daddy
Some time ago, a man punished his 5-year-old daughter for
wasting a roll of expensive gold wrapping paper. Money was
tight and he became even more upset when the child pasted the
gold paper so as to decorate a box to put under the Christmas
tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to her father
the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy." The father
was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared
again when he found the box was empty. He spoke to her in a
harsh manner, "Don't you know, young lady, when you give
someone a present there's supposed to be something inside the
package?"
The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,
"Oh, Daddy, it's not empty - I blew kisses into it until it was
full."
The father was crushed. He fell to his knees and put his arms
around his little girl, and he begged her to forgive him for his
unnecessary anger.
An accident took the life of this child only a short time later and
it is told that the father kept that gold box by his bed for all the
years of his life. And whenever he was discouraged or faced
difficult problems he would open the box and take out an
imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it
there.
In a very real sense, each of us as human beings have been given
a golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our
children, family, friends and God. There is no more precious
possession anyone could hold.
Reflection
How much of our love is unconditional? So much of
‘love’ is based on attachment and selfishness.
