The IWA Stores team has put their Innovation to the test and it has paid off. See how they have not only been able to make their operation more efficient, but save thousands of dollars too!
1. We are not an average company; we expect all employees
to be Innovative in how they think about their job, their
team, their department, and the company.
2. A great example of Allegiant Innovation is Tom Saxton and his stores
team implementing a new cost efficient way to transport parts across
the system. It all started with a great idea and a couple of changes…
When Tom started with Allegiant as a Lead Clerk at LAS
in September 2011, the parts distribution center was in
Bullhead City, AZ where everything was being shipped
via FedEx Express. This was an expensive option for us
to move parts.
3. In spring of 2012, the stores team decided to move the distribution
center from Bullhead City to Mesa, AZ (IWA) so they could use our co-
mail system. The relocation took a couple months and by June 2012,
IWA became the new home of our stores distribution center.
4. We have the freedom to think
outside the box, literally!
Tom and his team have not only been able to use our internal co-mail
system to ship parts much more efficiently and at a lower-cost option
than using FedEx, but they figured out how to co-mail across the whole
system. Now THAT’S Innovation!
5. By co-mailing 90%of their parts,
packaging materials, and ditching the FedEx box,
the stores team really did think outside
of the box! In just 9 months since this
new process has been implemented, it
has saved the company over
$28,000!

6. Seeing such a drastic
change has encouraged
Tom’s team to continue to
look for new things to help
the company grow and be
successful. “I have seen a
lot of changes in our
department in a positive
way. We are stronger than
ever and I can feel the
excitement within the
team,” Tom said.

7. Tom has used his
Innovation to incorporate
our values during their
team meetings. Each
month, a different Team
Member researches and
reports on a value, what
it means to them and
how together, they can
work to incorporate that
value into daily tasks and
larger goals for the Stores
group.
8. Ultimately, they are Innovating to create a workplace they can be
proud of! The IWA Stores team may have started the practice of
dissecting our Values and using them as a platform to improve their
workplace, but it hasn’t stopped there! This model has also been
shared through our Stores locations system-wide and may even be
something you might want to implement in your own workgroup.
