A hungry fox tricks a rooster into crowing loudly by claiming to be a friend of the rooster's father. When the rooster crows, the fox grabs him. However, the villagers hear the crow and come to investigate. The fox tries to convince the villagers that the rooster is his, but the clever rooster denies this from his tree and escapes, outwitting the fox.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. THE WISE ROOSTER
A fox came out of the woods. He was hungry and wanted to eat some fat hens. He walked quietly
towards the village. It was getting late. Hens and roosters were now flying towards their coops . The fox
stayed under a big tree. Some roosters or hens spent the night in those big spreading branches.Sure
enough, one fat rooster crowed loud and clear before flying to a branch of the tree.
“Excuse me for bothering you.”I’m looking for a rooster friend of my father. He said his friend
rooster crows the loudest and clearest in the village. I think you are my father’s friend. Please crow once
for me.”
The rooster closed his eyes and started to crow his best. As soon as the rooster closed his eyes,
the fox seized him by the feet. The fox leaped and jumped towards the woods. But the rooster crowed
as loud as he could. The villagers heard the rooster’s crow and they shouted, “The fox got our rooster.”
“ Did you hear that? The people are saying you are running of with their rooster. Tell them I’m
your rooster no theirs.”
The fox stopped running. He put down the rooster and face the villagers. This is my rooster! This
is not yours.
The rooster escaped and flew high up in a tree. He looked down at the fox below. “You are liar!
I am their rooster. I am not your rooster!”
The poor fox beat his nose on the ground. “You and your big mouth. If you did not talk, you
would have had a rooster for dinner.”
