Descriptive text describes people, places, or things. It identifies the subject being described, then provides details about its parts, qualities, or characteristics using adjectives and classifiers. Descriptive text uses simple present tense and attributive and identifying processes for language features. An example descriptive text identifies and then describes the speaker's gray Angora cat, Pus-pus, noting its confident walking, love of television, and finicky behavior toward visitors seeking attention.
