Thomas Jonathan Jackson, also known as Stonewall Jackson, was one of the greatest generals in the history of the Civil War. He was born in 1824 in Virginia to a lawyer father and homemaker mother. During the Civil War, Jackson proved himself an effective strategist and leader, though he was accidentally shot by his own men at the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863 and later died of complications from his injuries.
