The 11th Annual STIFF Festival is a transmedia festival for independent filmmakers that will take place from May 1-9, 2015 in Seattle. The festival showcases off-beat independent films and emerging transmedia projects across multiple platforms. It includes film screenings, panels, workshops and parties over 9 days with attendance of over 5,000 people. STIFF also hosts monthly screenings and workshops throughout the year and produces a monthly interview series to support independent filmmakers and transmedia artists.

Vancouver Asian Film Festival is the oldest Asian film festival in Canada. It was founded in 1995 and debuted in September 1997. Since then, tens of thousands of film lovers have experienced a diverse selection of North American-Asian and international films.
Each year VAFF attracts close to 4,000 audience members over its four-day festival and year round events. It also reaches many more through word of mouth, pre-festival events, and traditional and social media throughout the year.

In this era where digital consumption is the norm and most content is just a click away, one might question the relevance of film festivals. As a seasoned director, I hold a different perspective. Film festivals, in my view, continue to play a vital role in the cinematic world, the importance of which cannot be understated.
2. STIFF is the first transmedia festival for independent filmmakers in
America. Transmedia Storytelling (also known as cross-platform, digital or
multi-platform storytelling) is the technique of distributing a story
experience across multiple industry platforms and legacy formats using
digital technology through a cohesive experience.
In 2005, the Seattle's True Independent Film Festival (aka STIFF) was started by a
group of local filmmakers as a way to showcase off-beat independent films that
are typically ignored by traditional "independent" film channels on the festival
circuit. STIFF put out the call and each year we find more and more filmmakers
that are making True Independent Films. Films that rely on creativity and passion
to tell their story no matter the budget.

After 10 years of screening independent films during the film to digital transition
we have decided to focus on the emerging Digital Transmedia Art-Form for
independent filmmakers. We realized that there are some amazing storytellers
working in other mediums that need a festival to showcase their works and to have
a place to network with other professionals. We are seeing more and more film
festivals pop up each year while the emerging forms of transmedia storytelling are
being ignored. We aim to be the place for all artists to come each year and
celebrate the many ways they are incubating and creating their stories using
digital & interactive technology.
