Steven Paul Jobs (1955-2011) was an American business magnate, industrial designer, investor, and media proprietor. He was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc. Jobs attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon but dropped out after one semester. In 1976, Jobs co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Jobs later left Apple and co-founded NeXT and acquired Pixar. In 1996, Apple acquired NeXT and Jobs returned to Apple as CEO, where he helped revitalize the company. Jobs introduced revolutionary products like the iPod, iPhone and iPad before resigning as CEO in August 2011 due to health reasons. He passed away on October 5, 2011

2. A legend was born…Born in February 24, 1955 at San Francisco, California, U.S., to Abdulfattah John Jandali and Joanne Schieble. Later, Steven was adopted by Paul Jobs and Clara Jobs. Jobs attended Cupertino Junior High and Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. Following high school graduation in 1972, Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. 3. Formative years…Jobs worked for video game maker Atari and attended meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club with Steve Wozniak, a high school friend who was a few years older. 4. Apple Inc. founded…In 1976, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, founded Apple. Jobs' daughter Lisa is born to girlfriend Chrisann Brennan. Apple goes public, raising $110 million in one of the biggest initial public offerings to date. In 1983, Steve Jobs lured John Sculley away from Pepsi-Cola to serve as Apple's CEO. On January 24, 1984, an emotional Jobs introduced the Macintosh.“To turn really interesting ideas and fledgling technologies into a company that can continue to innovate for years, it requires a lot of disciplines.”1976-84

5. Huge setback…May 1985—following an internal power struggle and an announcement of significant layoffs because of disappointing sales at the time—Sculley relieved Jobs of his duties as head of the Macintosh division. “My job is not to be easy on people. My jobs is to take these great people we have and to push them and make them even better.”1985

6. Takes up the challenge…After leaving Apple, Jobs founded NeXT Computer in 1985 with $7 million. In 1986, Jobs bought The Graphics Group (later renamed Pixar). In 1993, after having sold only 50,000 machines, NeXT transitioned fully to software development with the release of NeXTSTEP/Intel. In 1996, Apple announced that it would buy NeXT for $429 million. 1985-96“I want to put a ding in the universe.”

7. What a comeback…Jobs became de facto chief after then-CEO Gil Amelio was ousted in July. He was formally named interim chief executive in September 1997. At the 2000 Macworld Expo, Jobs officially dropped the "interim" modifier and becomes permanent CEO. On November 10, 2001, iPod was released. Apple also releases iTunes software.“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected.”1997-2001

8. Gifts for the world…In April 28, 2003, Apple launches the iTunes Music Store. In 2004, Jobs undergoes surgery for a rare but curable form of pancreatic cancer. In 2006, In 2007, Apple introduces iPhone. In 2009, Jobs goes on medical leave. Later it was learnt that he underwent liver transplant. “You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.”2002-09

9. Leaves behind a lasting legacy…In 2010, Apple introduces iPad. In January,2011 Jobs goes on a second medical leave. In August, 2011 Jobs resigns as Apple CEO. In October 5, 2011 Jobs bids ‘Good Bye’ to the world.2010-11“Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish”
