Side effect of Steroids… Cancer of the liver, prostate, kidney, high blood pressure, enlarged prostate, liver dmage, aggressive behavior, depression, aching joints, injury to tendons, ligaments, and muscles, blood coagulation disorders, HIV from sharing needles, acne, reduced libido, nosebleeds, increase sex drive and increase fatty deposits, heart arrhythmia’s, breast growth, stunt growth in young individuals, reduced sperm count, shrinking of the testicles, baldness, body hair growth in female, and masculinazation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TNgfVTGgek&feature=related
When did it all begin? Steroid use in sports dates back to the original Olyimpic games in 776 B.C The first confirmed incident of performance enhancing drugs was used in the World Weightlifting Championships of 1954
Steroid cases back then In 1968, the East Germans used steroids and they dominated worldwide sporting events for the next 20 years In 1972, the first athlete caught officially breaking the ban on performance enhancing substances was an American swimmer named Rick De Mont who was using a substance called “Ephedrine”
Then the government started to act In 1987, the National Football League introduced its first anti-steroid policy  On November 18, 1988, the Anti–Drug Abuse Act of 1988 was issued
Steroid cases now At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Marion Jones won three gold and two bronze medals, and until her admission about her drug use in October, had publicly insisted she never used performance-enhancing drug. She pleaded guilty to lying in court and was sentenced to six months in prison. Tour de France winner Floyd Landis was suspended from his cycling team after he tested positive for an unusually high amount of testosterone/epitestosterone in his urine. He was also stripped of his Tour de France Title.
MLB Steroid Policies In 2002, if you were caught using  steroids  the punishment was counseling, and the second offense it was suspended for 15 days, then 25 days, then 50 days, and then a year.  In 2005, the first offense for steroids was 50 games, the second was 100 games, and the third was a lifetime ban
Steroid cases now cont. The Barry Bonds trial started in 2002 and then in 2003 with his testimony to the grand jury. He also denied to using steroids to the grand jury. On May 17, 2005 Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, and Rafael Palmero were heard in court. All three of these superstar baseball players were accused of taking steroids and denied the use. These allegations are still going on today.
