This document summarizes research on the impacts of stereotypes on immigrant communities. The research involved conducting focus groups with high school students to understand the emotional and economic effects of stereotypes. Some common stereotypes identified were related to being lazy, criminals, or not valuing education. The findings showed that stereotypes cause pain and loss of hope for students of color. However, it also gave them strength and motivation to challenge the stereotypes. The students' stories demonstrated how stereotypes can lead to economic impacts through discrimination in areas like policing, housing and employment.
