I choose goodness because
God is good to me at all
times, I choose to be as
gentle as a lamb and as
harmless as a dove so that
Christ may be seen in all
my life
Pastor Brent encourages us and challenges us to surrender our will to the leading of God's Spirit instead of settling for judgments, disconnections, and addictions (living from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil). Slides for a talk given Jan 30, 2021.
This document discusses the concept of submission, drawing from references in scripture and the writings of Richard Foster. It provides quotes indicating that true freedom comes from submission, not getting our own way, and that leadership is found through becoming a servant to others. The document then lists seven different acts of submission and includes the Covenant Prayer of John Wesley as an example of complete submission to God's will. It poses discussion questions about what root sin prevents submission to God and experiences of submitting one's own plans to God.
The author believes that God exists based on personal experiences and feelings. The author was raised being told about God's existence and came to independently believe due to miracles in their life and feeling God's presence. The author also believes life is too miraculous to have happened by chance and cites creation as described in the Bible. Reasons for belief include relationships, love, and friendships which the author believes could be gifts from God.
Pastor Brent reminds us of the simple Gospel message and its power to set us free, if only we would take it at face value. Too often we have allowed never-quite-good-enough, performance-based religion to turn God's good news into a man-made prison! Pastor Brent invites us back to the place where we trust the completeness of God's salvation work in us, and can confidently state that we're fully accepted and loved as God’s favored child! It encourages seeking God with all your heart, submitting to him in every area of your life, and loving in every act. Pursuing a pure heart and life will allow you to see God in every person.
The document discusses the nature of God and one's relationship with God. It prompts self-reflection on identity, beliefs, habits, and how often one spends time with God. It encourages allowing God to accompany one in facing wounds. It then lists many affirming identities a person has as a child of God, member of Christ's body, and saint. It also includes quotes from Mother Teresa about loving others and doing small acts of kindness, and passages about God's love for humanity.
Seven reasons people can get stuck in recovery are: 1) not completely working the previous principles; 2) not fully surrendering their life and will to God; 3) not accepting Jesus' forgiveness for their sins; 4) not forgiving themselves or others who have harmed them; 5) fearing the risks of necessary change; 6) not taking responsibility for their actions; and 7) lacking an effective support team. As a sponsor, it is important to be familiar with these areas of getting stuck to help sponsees become unstuck.
This document contains a prayer asking God for wisdom to discern God's way and live justly amid struggles. It then discusses a passage from the book of James about how true religion involves reaching out to help others, not just talking, and how we must love our neighbors as ourselves. Living From the Core of Our Being, Letting Go of Legitimacy Propsrfochler
Slides for a talk given by Susan and Russ Fochler at Blazing Fire Church September 20, 2014. The audio is available at http://blazingfire.podbean.com Using personal experience, scripture, and insight about ways we try to "prove" our legitimacy; Susan and Russ talk about finding freedom in God's love to live from our original selves - from the core of our being.
Based on "Respectable Sins" by Jerry Bridges, this lesson describes how vile, ugly, and destructive sin truly is. In order to truly apply the remedy for sin, we have to see it for what it is. Sin is rebellion against the Law of God, but it is also despising the Person of God.
The document discusses the concepts of mercy, forgiveness, and hope. It defines mercy as having compassion or showing compassion to others. It says we are called to be stewards of God's mercy and love by using the grace we receive through Jesus Christ to be instruments of God's love and mercy for others. It also discusses how those who receive God's mercy should show mercy to others through forgiveness, which is necessary to reestablish relationships and bring peace and healing. Forgiveness is described as a gift from God that we are responsible for sharing with others.
The document discusses how Eve was deceived by the serpent in the Garden of Eden to eat the forbidden fruit. It describes how this led women to believe lies, such as that they are not worth pursuing or beautiful. These lies have caused women to respond by either trying to dominate or by clinging to others for fulfillment. The document argues that women should be aware of these lies so they do not negatively impact current and future relationships, and their relationship with God.
This document discusses the Beatitudes and how they reveal the mystery of true happiness according to Jesus. It explains that the Beatitudes are Jesus' way of life and show us that having possessions cannot make us perfectly happy. True happiness comes from living like Jesus by being poor in spirit, mourning with those who mourn, and being meek. The Beatitudes teach us to find fulfillment in God rather than material things.
The document is a summary of Jonathan Edwards' work "Religious Affections" which argues that true religion consists greatly of holy affections. Edwards provides 10 proofs for this thesis including that vigorous heart inclinations are required for religion, human actions spring from affections, Scripture depicts holy affections like love and joy, Christ and saints experienced strong affections, and holiness requires an affected heart not a hard heart. Edwards aims to distinguish true religious affections from false by examining the role of affections in spiritual life.

7 tips to effectively communicate with the next generationNick Skytland
A presentation on “7 Tips to effectively communicating with the next generation” given at the NASA Education Stakeholder’s Summit in Chantilly, Virginia on 01 December 2011. The presentation explores how to engage "true digital natives" in your mission using a framework developed by historians Strauss and Howe that explains the cyclical nature of generations in Anglo-American history. The annual NASA Education Stakeholders’ Summit was first created in 2010 to bring together high-level representatives of NASA, other Federal Agencies, academia and industry to raise awareness around initiatives for STEM education and workforce development and provide forums for dialogue to enhance those initiatives. This year’s Summit explored how a new infrastructure can be shaped for the STEM workforce of tomorrow for NASA and other organizations, and the message that it is “cool” to work in STEM fields in the Federal Government, NASA, academia and industry.
The document outlines a marketing strategy for Garnier to increase its brand presence in the Netherlands market. It recommends launching Garnier Synergie skin care products to target younger women while differentiating it from L'Oreal's Plénitude line. It also suggests reformulating L'Oreal Recital hair color to introduce a semi-permanent option and meet market demands. The implementation plan details preparing for the Synergie launch through advertising, promotions and expanding distribution. Risks are mitigated by positioning the brands for different demographics. Expected results include increased market share and profits for L'Oreal-Garnier in both skin care and hair color categories.
This document contains excerpts from various spiritual writings focused on topics like suffering, humility, sin, and finding peace in God. Some key points:
- Suffering is necessary and intended by God to purify and heal, not as punishment. It should be borne peacefully by accepting God's will.
- True humility involves being at peace even when humiliated and focusing on obedience to God rather than desires of the ego.
- Finding relief from problems in worldly things like changing circumstances or alcohol only provides temporary relief, not healing. True healing and cleansing of sin comes only from God.
Christ came to restore our relationship with God and give us victory. It is yours for the taking. He leaves the choice up to us. I would like to challenge you to willingly accept His gift to you.
This is the PowerPoint presentation of our class on surrendering to God at the Christian workshop hosted by Greenville Baptist Church First Lady and founder of Daughters of the King Ministry Angela Dorsey.
1. Frustration occurs when meaningful goals are thwarted, leading to pent up emotions that can result in undesirable behaviors if not addressed properly.
2. Jesus provides the perfect model for dealing with frustration in a healthy way. His teachings emphasize turning to God, accessing God's throne of grace through prayer, submitting to God's will, and maintaining an attitude of gratitude.
3. When facing frustration, one should seek guidance from God's word, pray humbly while depending on God's wisdom and power, remember that God is in control, and give thanks for God's goodness.
This document discusses the importance and difficulty of forgiveness. It states that forgiveness requires years of learning and God's grace to overcome humanity's unwillingness to forgive. Unforgiveness destroys relationships between family members, spouses, and leads to unhappiness. God commands his people to forgive one another. While forgiveness may seem impossible, it is necessary to obey God and obtain his forgiveness. True forgiveness requires acknowledging one's own weakness and praying to God for strength beyond human ability to forgive others as Christ forgave us through his grace.
1) Repentance means turning away from sin and turning towards God by surrendering one's life to Jesus. Sin separates man from God but Jesus bridged that gap through his death on the cross.
2) To truly repent, one must acknowledge their sins rather than justify them. Sins destroy us just as physical wounds can kill if not treated. We must acknowledge our sins and turn to Jesus, our doctor, for forgiveness and cleansing.
3) True repentance changes our entire lifestyle and personality as we live to please God rather than man. It is a personal choice to let God change us from the inside out through turning back to him and returning to the right path.
Sermon Slide Deck: "Deliver Us From Evil" (Matthew 6:5-13)New City Church
This document discusses the Lord's Prayer and how it relates to deliverance from evil. It notes that Jesus wants to eliminate not just genocide but also personal anger and rage from within. While people may see themselves as helping solve world problems, the real issue is addressing the evil and problems within oneself, as we are all capable of anger and vindictiveness. The cross of Jesus shows that God understands and cares deeply about human suffering, being willing to experience it himself in order to rescue humanity from sin and evil.
The document discusses worldly and godly conflict from the book of James. It describes how worldly conflict begins with passions, explodes into fighting through speculation and exaggeration, and involves half-truths and gossip. Godly conflict, on the other hand, is marked by humility, drawing near to God, and refraining from judging others. The key to godly conflict is humility, which allows people to see their own sins, listen more than speak, submit to authority, and resist the devil rather than other people.
This document provides teaching on the topic of forgiveness. It defines forgiveness as letting go of resentment and the desire for revenge. It also discusses why forgiveness is important, such as for maintaining relationships with God and others. The document outlines different levels of offenses that require forgiveness and the process of forgiving through naming the harm, grieving, and allowing God to replace grief with joy. It emphasizes that forgiveness is a choice and should be given unconditionally and without limits.
ARE YOU FRUSTRATED BY WHAT YOU CAN'T SEEM TO CHANGE? EVER WONDER WHY YOU STILL FEEL THE SAME THINGS YOU DID BEFORE YOU CAME TO JESUS? MANY ARE AND TOO OFTEN THE MESSAGE IS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU! DON'T BELIEVE THAT ANY LONGER. READ THE TRUTH.

Hope for the Christian Struggling with Same Sex AttractionFree Indeed
Does living according to the ten commandments mean you are in God's good graces? Does God require you to live righteously so that you can be pleasing to Him? Or are our efforts to please Him futile because there's nothing we could ever do to be perfect? This western culture is all about what you bring to the table. In this episode we will discuss exactly what we bring to the table and what God thinks of it, the efficacy of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and the real extent of His love, or should I say the limitless reaches.
http://freeindeedco.podbean.com/e/episode-3-grace-vs-works/
What is a Christian Struggler?
For our purposes it is a person who struggles with same sex attraction. This includes one who has never acted on these thoughts to transgender. Struggler, means that you feel a sense of guilt, shame or wrong about these things. You are not alone. We know that God has a plan and a purpose for your life.
More than anything we want you to know that the Bible does NOT require you to change into something else before Jesus accepts you. In fact, God came to earth (in the life of Jesus) nearly 2000 years ago, suffered, died and rose again for your redemption. Your sins are already forgiven. All you have to do is receive this forgiveness and live forever with Him.
Not sure how all this works? Ask us and we will show you the way.
Jesus said, "I am the truth the life and the way". We can show you to him he will do everything else!
Find peace and balance through life’s hectic pace with practical and spiritual insight from God’s Word. Life is full of obligations, emotions, and relationships. Some are life-giving, yet sometimes the weight and responsibility of everyday life is heavy to bear. As wives, mothers, friends, and daughters, we need to know we’re not alone. When our days are long, and our nights are restless, it’s easy to think we should be able to handle things on our own. Or that no one struggles like we do. Be encouraged with this 7-day reading plan with insights from Lysa TerKeurst and the women at Proverbs 31 Ministries.
The document is a sermon that addresses how Christians can deal with suffering and hardship in the real world. It argues that being totally honest with God, even through lament, is the deepest expression of faith and the only way to heal from past hurts. It notes that while Christians are not promised freedom from pain, the Psalms model lamenting honestly to God as a form of praise. The sermon aims to give permission to admit pain and questions to God, which is necessary for spiritual growth.
This document discusses distortions of God's love and justice. It addresses the idea that God is only loving and would never send people to Hell, as well as the idea that God is never forgiving. The document seeks to show that God is both loving and just. His love is demonstrated through sending Jesus to die for sins, satisfying both God's love and requirement of justice. While sin angers God, he is willing to forgive through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. The document aims to resolve misunderstandings of God's character through biblical examination of his love, holiness, righteousness, and forgiveness.

It explains that simulations use math to model real-world situations in order to predict outcomes without having to experience the actual situation. It then outlines the key steps for any simulation: 1) choosing a tool to model the situation, 2) defining trials and success criteria, 3) making assumptions, 4) recording results, 5) doing calculations, and 6) stating conclusions while acknowledging the results are only estimates. Examples are provided for each step to illustrate the process.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Trusting God's Providence | Verse: Romans 8: 28-31JL de Belen

-God keep His promises.
-God’s general providence is toward all creation
- All things were made through Him
God’s special providence is toward His children.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
2. 1. I tend to assume that the hardest option is probably the
godliest. In other words, the obedient way is probably the
harder of the 2 ways.
2. I rarely ask forgiveness only once for any „significant
transgressions‟ even if i truly repented the first time.
3. I tend not to feel back in God‟s “good graces” right away
after repentance.
4. I catch myself wanting to pay penance after feeling like I‟ve
really messed up.
3. 5. I think God loves me but in spite of me and not because I‟m
loveable.
6. Truth be told, Jesus‟ parable about the workers who get paid
equal wages regardless of how long or short a time they worked
seems a bit disconcerting.
7. I deal with a fair amount of anxiety in my spiritual life.
8. I struggle with considerable self-condemnation.
9. I find it easier to tell others how much God loves them than to
believe it for myself.
10. I feel I must always bear up with people who have wronged me
over and over.
4. 11. I tend to feel guilty about some of the good things in my
life.
12. I know God loves me but I think I often disappoint him.
13. Bonus question: Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and
drinking, but of righteousness, and peace, and joy in the
Holy Spirit.(HCSB) However, you would not know that from
being around me.
5. Grace is an inflated raft that can submerge to the floor of a sea to
save you
Grace is the silver thread that stitiches up the shreads of mangled
souls
is the eye that finds us where it refuses, ever?, to leave us
Grace calls the waitress to the table and sits her down to wash her
feet.
Grace sees underneath the manhole on the street of self destruction.
Grace is the air to draw a breath in the belly of a whale
Grace is the courage to stand in the shamed wake of a frightful
falling.
Grace is the only fire hot enough to burn down a living hell.
Grace waits with healing in his wings when we're too mad to pray.
6. Grace is the gravity that pulls us from depravity.
Grace races us to the throne when we make haste to repent - and always
outruns us.
Grace treats us like we already are what we fear we'll never become.
Grace is the doorpost dripping red when the angel of death grips the knob.
Grace is the stamp that says ransomed on a life that screams ruined.
Grace is the cloak that covers the naked and the palm that drops the rock.
Grace is divine power burgeoning in the absence of all strength.
Grace proves God true and every self-made man a liar for the sake of his own
soul.
Grace is the power to do what we cannot do for the name of Christ to go
where it has not been.
Grace is a room of a thousand mirrors, all reflecting the face of Christ.
