 Stems are structures which supports buds
  and leaves.
 They serve as conduits for carrying water,
  minerals, and sugars.
 Support for and the elevation of leaves,
  flowers and fruits.
 The production of new living tissue. The
normal life span of plant cells is 1 to 3
years. Stems have meristems that annually
  generate new living tissue.
 Bud = an embryonic stem which has potential
  for further plant growth.
 Node = is a point on the stem from which
  leaves or buds arise.
 Internodes = portion between two
  successive node.
 Leaves = product of the bud.
 Shoot = young stem with leaves present.
 Twig = a stem which is less than one year old
and has no leaves since it’s still in winter
  dormant stage.
 Branch = stem which is more than one year
old and typically has lateral stems.
 Trunk = main stem of woody plant.
 Vine = is a plant which develops long
, trailing stems that grow along the ground
unless they are supported by another plant.
 Supports leaves, flowers, and fruits and
  connect them with the roots.
 It conducts water, nutrients and the product
of photosynthesis to and from the roots and
  leaves.
 Young green stem also performs a minor role
in the production of food through
  photosynthesis.
 The plant stem serves as a means of asexual
  reproduction.
