3. WHY HAVE A STEAM LAB?
 The STEAM Lab is a unique extension of the
regular classroom where students will be able to
engage in exciting, cross-curricular learning
opportunities, and hands on activities involving
science, technology, engineering, the arts and
math (STEAM) using recycled materials and
technology.
 The STEAM lab has curriculum connections to
Common Core State Standards in reading, writing,
and math and Next Generation Science Standards

4. WHY HAVE A STEAM LAB?
 STEAM is not going away soon.
 Sparks our students imaginations .
 Gives them critical thinking skills.
 Shows them it’s OK to make mistakes.
 Connect to “real world” career opportunities.
 You never know - maybe you are teaching our
next famous architect, astronaut, physicist,
surgeon, scientist, and the list goes on…..

 Legos and the Lego Wall
 K’Nex Components
 Used Electronics to Take Apart
 Recycled Materials

 …All to be used to however you choose.

6. HOW DOES THE LAB WORK?
 On your schedule
 Media Specialist will collaborate and co-teach if
you choose
 Wednesday mornings from 9:03 to 10:00 are
designated for STEAM in the Media schedule
 You can use the lab whenever the room is free
 Can’t bring your class down? No problem! We
have 2 mobile carts to put your materials on and
take to your classroom.

7. IF I WANT TO BORROW
SOMETHING, WHAT DO I DO?
 You may use any of the recycled materials at any
time. But, if you use, please try to replenish for the
next user.
 If you are taking a mobile cart, please sign it out in
the Media Center.
 All electronics are kept in a locked cabinet and
must be signed out in the Media Center.
 All pieces must be returned and in working order.
