Resume Writing and Interview Skills Overview:
DOs and DON’Ts
Why have a resume & cover letter?
Coverletter
First impression
Your writing ability
Intro to who you are
Shows you are serious about the opportunity
Intrigues the employer to want to know more
It sets up the follow-up
Resume
Expand on who you are
What makes you right for the position
Highlight your skills
You have worked hard to develop and know they will be an asset
Illustrate your achievements
Brag on yourself, but not too much
Elements of a Cover Letter
ADDRESS your cover letter to a REAL PERSON! Do your best to find out TO WHOM you should address your cover letter. “Dear Manager” is lifeless.
OPEN with an attention-grabbing first sentence to really grip the reader. This approach will almost guarantee your cover letter and resume get a much closer look.
REMEMBER — Less is MORE! The best cover letters have plenty of white space. Clear, focused, short and sweet gets the interview every time.
FOCUS on what you can do for the employer. How can you benefit the company specifically? Do a little research and relate this value-added simply and clearly in your letter.
CHOOSE WORDS that show enthusiasm and passion for the position you seek … (big, big secret!)Then, carry this passion into the interview with you.
REQUEST ONE ACTION you want the employer to take: “I would really like the opportunity for a personal interview this week.” (You never know until you ASK)!
END your cover letter with enthusiastic and telling verbiage, such as, “I look forward to being interviewed at your earliest convenience. Thank you so much for this opportunity. Sincerely, Jane
Worst Cover Letter Ever!!!

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Statement of Purpose for PhD: Life Hacks for Writing
1.
2. Statement Of Purpose For PhD: Life
Hacks For Writing
Candidates of the graduate school are human beings too are they are
something much more than academic grades, scores and transcripts. Major part
of the opposition for the admission carries statistics which are impressive. They
can have everything but what they can’t lay hands on eccentric experience,
history of life and perception of looking at things in an own personal manner.
Also you need to share the viewpoint to the admission committee in own
personal way-recalling to combine everything you have got to be the most
flawless and a valuable asset to their organization/university.
Presenting you to some of the life hacks for writing statement of purpose
which may help you to get the most out of it.
1. Crack the motive of the university, and then write your SOP
Any school/university will try to pose the question a bit differently as
compared to the others out there, but they are all after the same thing, cracking
the applicant’s motive of getting in the university and what the candidate is
really after. What he has been pursuing all these years. What makes you so
interested in the specific field? The experience that you hold is that relevant for
3. the asked program? What would be your very next move once you get in the
degree program? The exact reason of being in the university and most of all how
would your admission benefit the program?
Admission panels are always seeking candidates who have the potential
to demonstrate a passion for the selected concentration which is originated from
the personal experience. So what you need to do is to answer all of the above
mentioned questions and carve out a beautiful story of it so that the committee
would love and should be tough to forget.
2. Fabricate a SOP that should be loud enough to avoid
Try to write a statistics phd sop that should either be too casual or too
formal and let out the real personality. Wit and insight are the key ingredients
but avoid being funny. Using technical terms would perhaps suffice the need of
you appearing someone from the relevant field holding experience but avert
from jargon and cliches. Take your SOP as a discussion with one of the
processors.
3. Think of the goal while writing
Yes you are in dire need of telling a story and the thing about the stories
is that they efficiently prove a point. In this case you need to prove that you are
the best graduate school candidate for the admission. So one needs to cover up
4. all the vital information for the admission committee which they probably might
be looking for. Be very careful while you write down the reason why this school
is important and the professor you have been admired in that particular school.
Use the numericals and the figures to show the challenges you have been
through to get there along with the work experience in phd recommendation
letter.
4. Avoid the facts, instead inscribe an appealing tale
This one you can do while you just try to remember the greater
experiences you have had all the way which even you could not hold back from
sharing with your mates. With the facts a little share of details, your part of the
story and the lessons learnt from about your very own self and human nature.
The excitement which you hold and the personality that you have are the root
cause of the story being great in the first place.
5. Just make sure to fit a feedback in the SOP
After covering up all the points just make a note that it does matter when
you ask for a feedback in the written SOP as it indicates that no matter how the
statement of purpose for phd was inscribed the writer is still seeking perfection
and ready to accept the flaws even if it is a perfectly written economics phd
statement of purpose.
Conclusion
If you still need more edge and originality on making the phd application
statement of purpose much more appealing and prove your point then you could
see a few TED talks videos as most of the speakers in TED talks are intelligent,
self sufficient, creative, motivated and stick to personal methods of dealing with
the audience and turning the conversations around to brilliantly land on what
they have been trying to prove.
