Starting An ICT Academy (Digital Academy)
Steps required to start an ICT Academy involves the following stages
I. Procuring the infrastructure/equipment needed
II. Office space/classroom arrangement
III. Company registration
IV. Program design/curriculum development
V. International affiliation with ICT giants
I will be writing briefly on this 5 points
1. First and fur-most the procurement of required infrastructure is
primary. Some required infrastructure includes desktops,installation of
LAN(network equipment),electrical installations,printers,servers etc
Assuming an ICT institute with about 5 classes,each class having 16 to 20
seats will require about 100 desktops for the classes,you can choose to
use either wooden desktop tables or iron desktops tables with 100
seats,sockets with extension points, 1.5 to 2.5HP ACs for the classes or
industrial fans.
Network installation meaning the classes will be connected together
using a network switch. For the office , a central printer connected by a
LAN is required.3 desktops to be used by the office staff.
The instructors will also have their office depending on the number of
courses & faculties required.at this point, we should be looking as 6 to
8pc. Majority of the infrastructure will involve P.C procurement &
installation.you can purchase either brand new P.Cs or durable 2nd
hand,depending on the financial strength.
2. Office Space & classroom arrangement: 5 classrooms with a conducive
fully AC required.each classroom will focus on a particular ICT
domain;courses like Networking,Programming(coding),database
Management,Multimedia,ICT services & Administration as considered
domains in ICT.each of the classes will have same or almost same
number of P.C. the admin offices can be 2 or 3 offices. One as front
office,one as accountant/secretary office,the last as CEO/director office.
The trainers/faculties will have a office space.they mostly stay together
in one conducive room,having sitting spaces
3. Your company have to be registered as an ICT training and education
company with the CAC
4. Program/curriculum design:the 5 domains namely
Networking,Programming,database,multimedia,ICT services each have
courses e.g
Networking:CCNA/CCNP,Comptia A+,Network
+,Security+,CISA,ITIL,MCSE(SI),LInux Server
Programming:JAVA Desktop & Web App Developer,.NET Framework
Desktop & web App Developer,PHP/Mysql,Dreamweaver/Flash, Web
design etc
Multimedia:Graphic Design,flash/Animation,Sound
Production/synthesis,video production,UX/UI(User Interaction/User
Interface)
ICT Services:Autocad,Project Management,Peachtree,blockchain
technology,forex etc
each of this courses have their duration calculated as time hours
spanning from 2 to 6 months or more depending on course content &
time slot allotted for classes(depending on your business model)
5. International affiliation with ICT Giants: its not a must but to put you
on a competitive edge & make your institute & graduates recognized
and rated accordingly both locally and internationally. Affiliation with IT
giants like Cisco,CompTIA,Oracle,Microsoft,Adobe is highly
recommended,they send you the courseware-hard or soft copy,monitor
and issue certificates from abroad & send you direct course training
materials and online exams for your company.you must not partner with
all at a time but the ones you know & feel the courses will be in top
demand in your environment.
