Additionally, our opening is less violent than some others, containing no blood or mass killings seen in other horror film openings.

Father Hope is walking near the town play park when he hears a faint scream in the distance. He runs down the path and discovers two people, one struggling while the other remains calm. The calm girl, Cecelia, has tangled hair, a pale face, and blood-soaked, cut hands. She drops the boy Fred, as Father Hope arrives in shock. Cecelia's eyes are black as she resumes strangling the weak girl, taking the boy's life by grasping his neck until he falls silent and dead. Father Hope then runs back to the church while Cecelia follows but gets distracted and walks off.
500 word story
1) Father Hope hears a scream while walking and finds a girl strangling another girl on an old railway line. The second girl dies.
2) The next day, Mrs. Higgles questions Father Hope about missing an event the previous night. He collapses from nerves. Later, Father Hope finds Mrs. Higgles in the woods, tangled in blood-stained hair.
3) Father Hope holds a funeral for Mrs. Higgles in the churchyard. While taking her usual walk along the railway line afterwards, he finds the spot where the first boy died still bloodstained, though the body is gone.

- 1. This is an establishing shot. It alerts the audience of the location (outer space) and then they can establish the genre. The audience knows that this is a Star Wars film, as the Death Star is a very well known and associated with Star Wars by many people. We also see the construction of the Death Star. This tells us that we’ve arrived in the middle of something (a story). And this tells us that we need to know the background of this to understand the film.
- 2. This shot lasts 27 seconds. This helps emphasise the size and importance of this spaceship. The spaceship takes up the majority of the shot. This represents the importance and danger of the ship. This length of time for a shot is very unconventional, as most establishing shots last a few seconds. This gives the audience many questions. Such as who is in this ship? Why are they so important?
- 3. This shot emphasises the size of the ship, the importance of the ship, and possibly the side that the ship is on. This is because there is focus on the small ship that we saw emerge from the larger ship, this suggests that it is carrying a person of great importance. Which we find out to be Darth Vader.
