2. CHARACTER CAST: PROTAGONIST
• Jack Francois
• Jack Francois portrays the protagonist of the production; an estranged estate agent,
who is unexpectedly murdered by the opposing character. The reason Jack plays this
role is mainly due to his admirable ability in terms of acting, as well as his overall
knowledge of the film production’s plot.

3. CHARACTER CAST: ANTAGONIST
• Brandon Simmons
• Brandon portrays the primary antagonist of our respective production. Brandon
meets the requirements, as his acting, intertwined with the use of props and camera
shots created a scary, yet effective representation of the character; the knife used
was roughly large, which connoted a sense of recklessness, and disregard for the
safety of others on the antagonist’s behalf.

These character’s were the select group of analysed subjects which
proved to be a pivotal influence on our own respective character's. The
characters contain high amounts of scare-factor, and an extreme sense of
iconography.

• Ryan Quinn: Ryan Quinn is the primary editor of the
film production. Along with Jack Francois’ assistance of
the other members of the production, Ryan was able to
add sound effects to the film production, as well as cut
recording efficiently.

6. FILM INSPIRATIONS
The Omen, 1976
• The Omen contains a religious aspect that depicts the possible ending of mankind, following the
birth of the antichrist. This adds a surreal element to the film. The original theme of the movie is
iconic.
Scream, 1996
• Scream contains many codes and conventions which you would usually expect within a horror
movie. The main antagonist wears a mask which is now synonymous with the horror franchise.
This signifies the cult status of the movie.
Psycho, 1960
• Alfred Hitchcock’s famous movie is mainly remembered for the unforgettable close up camera
shot during the infamous shower scene. In addition, the over the shoulder shot of the hand
possessing a knife adds a real sense of scare factor.

7. FILM INSPIRATIONS CONTINUED
Some horror films e.g. Scream, were made very simply, but were very effective, in the sense
that they scared the audience. Tension is created in many horror films through the strong use
of dramatic irony (dramatic irony is when the audience has more awareness of the situation,
then the character within the film). Films such as Scream, also make efficient use of props
(mask) It is good to use a mask for example because…
A mask would give the character a sense of identity, without even knowing the characters true
identity.
Masks add a sense of scare factor.
The character would differentiate from any other character.
The Characters that have been analysed will assist in the creation of the antagonist of our
respective production, based on the fact that, they all contain codes and conventions that are
typically expected within horror villains, as well as offering a variety of differentiating qualities
that help configure an overall character.
