Today we will learn the answers to these questions as a part of our quest to make certain we are fully integrating technology into our curriculum and learning experiences.
STaR stands for School Technology and Readiness. The STaR charts are aligned with the Long Range Plan for Technology 2006-2020.There are charts that must be completed at the teacher, campus, and district levels
StaR Chart reporting is required for federal funding. It is not optional in our district.
The Texas Campus STaR Chart provides documentation for reporting requirements. It must be completed and submitted by the district by June 30, 2010 for this school year.
Teachers must complete the Texas Teacher Star Chart. (open hyperlink) Here it is. Let’s look at what we must do to complete it. You can see that it is divided into four Key Areas, each with Focus Areas and Levels of Progress. How would you rate one focus area today?
The campus administrator must compile results for the campus and enter them into the district report. This person is our principal, Mr. Dear.
Each key area has 6 sub-areas, with a maximum of 4 points per sub-area.
Key area I: Teaching and Learning; Key area II: Educator Preparation and Development; Key Area III: Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support; Key Area IV: Infrastructure for Technology. Do you agree with the progress or decline?
Why is it important to record ratings accurately? What might happen if we rate incorrectly, either too high or too low?
We have many technology capabilities. What are hardware and software resources do you use and have come to expect? What do we need?
