A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

more information. Do you look the same? What about your daughters?
You shouldn’t have a problem finding Steve at the airport. He’s very
tall and thin. He has curly brown hair, a moustache, and a beard.
I can’t wait to see you!
Love,
Rony

Dear Jody,
Thanks for the e-mail that you sent a week ago. Sorry for writing
back so late because I’ve been very busy from all tge school’s
assignment. There is so much to do because the new semester has
just started! It is interesting to read about your plan in joining a
course to improve your English this semester. If you don;t mind I
would like to suggest you a course to join. It is Oak Tree, a homey
education centre. It’s a place not only to improve your skill in
English but also to have a music lesson. You can have English and
a music lesson in one place, as I know you have good talent in
language and music. If you want to know more about it, I am
ready to take you there. Just contact me!

Ely Anita thought about finding a proper job when she
was 16. She lived in a country where the unemployment rate
was quite high and competition to get a job was very
difficult.
In 1997, she landed in Malysia to take her first job as a
baby sitter. Staying there for two years, she described her
first experience as “quite good”. Then she returned home for
two months before moving to Hongkong.
In this new country, Ely was employed as an assistant to
a hairstylist at a beauty salon. Based on the contract, she had
to work there for two years, but after nine months, she
decided to quit the job, breaking the work contract because
she was underpaid and got no holidays from employer.
