St. PhilopaterMarcorious was a 17-year old soldier who became a leader in the Roman army. During a war against invading Berbers, an angel appeared to Marcorious dressed in white and holding a sword of light. The angel gave Marcorious the sword of light and assured him that God would help lead them to victory. With the heavenly sword alongside his own, Marcorious was empowered and led the army to defeat the Berbers. After their victory, the Emperor honored Marcorious for his courage and leadership provided by God through His angel.
