In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

PERTH ANGLICAN DIOCESE
DECLARES CLIMATE EMERGENCY
The Anglican Diocese of Perth has announced a Climate
Emergency at the fiftieth Synod, acknowledging the serious
threat of climate change.
Declaring a state of climate emergency aims to increase
awareness of the climate crisis that is effecting the livelihood of
vulnerable people and communities already, including our
neighbours in the Pacific, and mobilise resources to work to
mitigate climate change in the way governments would work to
address emergencies like war and natural disasters.
We have much to be grateful to God for of our natural world, in
Australia and beyond. It's our duty as Earth's stewards to adapt
environmentally smart practices in our personal lives, and
support those advocating for positive change.

GATHER
Gather is an event developed by ACYMC as a way to build
community within the 15 - 25 year old demographic within the
Diocese. ACYMC found that for many young people, the reality
of having a youth group in their parish was complicated. This
was due to there being too few other young people to make it
sustainable and a lack of leaders being able to help. Through
consultation with a number of Young Leaders, ACYMC is
excited to launch an event that will help to support the needs
of young people.
A request from young people was that Gather shouldnʼt try to
be a contemporary church service just for young people, but it
should be something more. Young people wanted something
fun where they could get to know other people from different
parishes. They wanted an event with sung worship with a
contemporary twist, but interestingly where they could hear
biblical talks that allowed them to discuss and ask questions to
the speaker.
The theme for the first event is ʻwhere do we go now?ʼ The
format will be a little different with Nick Russell (Chaplain of
Christ Church Grammar School) interviewing Gregory Seach
(Warden of Wollaston Theological College).
Date: Saturday 26th of October 2019
Time: 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Venue: Anglican Parish of Swanbourne-Mt Claremont

A REQUEST FROM THE GARDENERS
If you have a spare bag, or even half-bag, of potting mix
sitting about, please consider kindly donating it to top-
dressing the buffalo lawn of St Paul's amphitheatre. Bags
can be left near the garden shed on the north side of the
hall. Or they can be tipped anywhere on the grass,
especially the top level, and we can rake it out!
Thank you, Glenn Swift.

We are working with Homeless Health Care to enable 2
clients to move into their own accommodation at the
Woodman Point Caravan Park. Parishioners have offered
tents - thank you! We are now seeking other camping items
that you may be able to donate: lamp/torch, plastic
containers, folding chairs, camp table, pots & pans, kitchen
utensils, esky/cooler box and any other item that you think
might be suitable for someone living in a caravan park. If
you are able to help, please contact Joan on 0481505202
