Educational: To discuss with students about holidays, traditions
and customs of Great Britain, to work with lexical material. To
application of knowledge in practice, handling existing potential
in a particular situation, fixing ability and skills monologues.
 Developing: To enrich the students’ vocabulary, to enrich the
students’ speech practice, way of thinking, to practice their
identifying accents. To develop of oral communication skills. To
format of flexible and variable abilities to speak, to develop of
comprehension skills of foreign speech at the hearing.
 Bringing up: To get interested in the language, to bring up
students to love and respect their parents. Promoting respect for
language skills actively and productively work in a team. To

 Christmas celebrates on December 25th.
 People in the United Kingdom United States and Canada
decorate their homes with Christmas trees. City streets are
filled with colored lights; the sound of bells and Christmas
carols can be heard everywhere.
 Children write letters to Santa Claus and tell him what
presents they would like to get. People send Christmas cards
to relatives and friends.
 A Christmas tree is one of the main symbols of Christmas in
most homes. Presents are placed under the tree. On
Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, families open their
presents.
 Many children believe that Santa Claus arrives on Christmas
Eve and brings presents.
 A traditional Christmas dinner consists of stuffed turkey,
mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and a variety of other
dishes. Some families have ham or roast goose instead of
turkey. Pumpkin pie, plum pudding, and fruitcake are
favorite desserts.

 One of the international holidays is St. Valentine’s
Day. St. Valentine’s Day comes on February 14.
 St. Valentine is the patron of sweethearts.
 On this day many people make a declaration of love
and propose marriage. Flowers and candy are
favorite presents.
 The main symbol of this holiday is valentine. It’s a
small heart-shaped card. It is often colored red, has
red trimmings and pictures of hearts. It is put into
the postbox of that person whom you like.
 The day is the time to send little gifts to those you
love. Flowers and candy are favorite presents which
sweethearts send to each other. Valentine candy is
packed in red heart-shaped boxes and sold for this
one day.
 It is a good day for parties, especially by young
people.
 It is a very interesting holiday and many people like
to celebrate it.

Different countries have different traditions in celebrating Mother’s Day.
But it is common in all countries to visit mothers and give them presents.

make delicious breakfast dishes for their mothers. In Germany it is a tradition
to give flowers, greeting cards or some handmade presents. In Finland you can
see flags in every house and fathers usually cook tasty things. In our country we
congratulate not only our mothers, but our grandmothers as well. We also have
concerts on this holiday.
