to relatives and friends.
 A Christmas tree is one of the main symbols of Christmas in
most homes. Presents are placed under the tree. On
Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, families open their
presents.
 Many children believe that Santa Claus arrives on Christmas
Eve and brings presents.
 A traditional Christmas dinner consists of stuffed turkey,
mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and a variety of other
dishes. Some families have ham or roast goose instead of
turkey. Pumpkin pie, plum pudding, and fruitcake are
favorite desserts.

 One of the international holidays is St. Valentine’s
Day. St. Valentine’s Day comes on February 14.
 St. Valentine is the patron of sweethearts.
 On this day many people make a declaration of love
and propose marriage. Flowers and candy are
favorite presents.
 The main symbol of this holiday is valentine. It’s a
small heart-shaped card. It is often colored red, has
red trimmings and pictures of hearts. It is put into
the postbox of that person whom you like.
 The day is the time to send little gifts to those you
love. Flowers and candy are favorite presents which
sweethearts send to each other. Valentine candy is
packed in red heart-shaped boxes and sold for this
one day.
 It is a good day for parties, especially by young
people.
