This document summarizes Turnina Tanya's postgraduate research on investigating new catalyst systems for phenol alkylation with terpenes under the supervision of Irina U. Chukicheva at the Institute of Chemistry. The objectives are to study original sources on phenol alkylation, investigate heterogeneous acid catalysts for phenol alkylation, and select catalytic systems. Phenolic compounds produced from alkylation have applications as antioxidants, stabilizers, surfactants, plasticizers, inhibitors and in medical equipment and food. Experimental conditions and product distributions are shown for resorcinol alkylation with β-pinene using (PhO)3AI catalyst.
