Blockchain technology is being touted as the Next Big Thing, seemingly capable of great feats of strength and perhaps even curing the common cold. But what exactly is it and how could it contribute to a security program? This session will describe how blockchain works, define its value proposition, and identify specific use cases where blockchain makes sense and some where it doesn't. Along the way, we will discuss similar capabilities and technologies that accomplish the objectives.

How Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies Redefining Financial Instruments in Finance Kellton Tech Solutions Ltd
Join this webinar to learn how distributed ledger technologies - Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies innovating the traditional financial services industry with a transformative impact.
Introduction: This session will cover learning about fundamentals of Apache Kafka and SMM (Streams Messaging Manager)
Format: This session will start with understanding the basic concepts/entities of Apache Kafka like Brokers, Topics, Producers and Consumers/Consumer Groups. It will then delve deeper in to advanced topics like idempotent producer, transactional API in Kafka for exactly once processing, authentication, authorization, replication, log compaction, compression, performance, etc. It will later on be followed by a demo of SMM, an open source Cloudera initiative to help users of Kafka get a better insight in to their Kafka clusters from an operational perspective using an elegant and slick GUI rather than writing complex manual scripts. It will also cover a demo of Alerting/Notification framework that can be used to trigger alerts and notify based on certain conditions one wants to monitor for.
Objective: The objective of this session is to learn about Apache Kafka and illustrate how SMM can help to answer questions that arise in production deployments. Example questions are “Do I have any offline topic partitions”, “Which consumer group is falling behind most”, “What producers are generating the most data right now”, “How does data in my application topic look like” and so on. It will also aim to get familiar with SMM GUI exploring different views around different entities like Brokers, Topics, Producers and Consumer Groups so that user can quickly look for valuable information needed to monitor Kafka clusters or their application. It will also aim to learn how to use the Alerting and Notification framework that comes with SMM to automate monitoring of Kafka clusters and the applications built around it.

RWA Report 2024: Rise of Real-World Assets in Crypto | CoinGeckoCoinGecko
Real World Assets (RWAs) in crypto have a long history, starting with fiat-backed stablecoins such as Tether (USDT). However, since the introduction of DeFi in 2020, and the bear market of 2022, a more diverse variety of RWAs have been tokenized to cater to the needs of on-chain investors. While RWAs are still predominantly focused on debt / credit, other assets such as real estate, art & collectibles, etc have also piqued the interest of investors.
Fundamentally, RWA projects live at the intersection between the real world and blockchains, and between issuers and investors. Whether they can act as an effective intermediary at these intersections will be pivotal to their success. While there will inevitably be reliance on third parties, such as oracles, custodians, credit assessors, and more, how these are effectively utilized and managed will remain crucial for their continued operations.
We’ve summarized the key highlights, but be sure to dig into the full 22 slides below.
Most people want to jump into & know how to do ICO or participate in it. They trade buzzwords, follow the herd on blockchain & crypto token without knowing where do they really apply. The objective of this is to introduce important concepts that need to be understood before getting into ICO and crypto valuation. All these concepts are introduced gradually through a metaphor then simple mental models followed by a first principle thinking level. This is most useful for entrepreneurs and investors that ought to be thinking about blockchain, ICO & crypto tokens through first principles
