Imprinting is a type of learning that occurs early in life where animals form attachments to the first moving object they encounter, often their mother. This helps the young animal recognize and follow their parent for survival needs. Imprinting was first studied by Konrad Lorenz in geese who would imprint and follow Lorenz as if he was their mother.
