Tech Tips - Quick Box Plots
• Did you know that you can easily run box plots from the Graphs menu in IBM
SPSS Statistics?
• Box plots are a visual summary of data and a way to check for outliers.

Tech Tips - Quick Boxplots
• To quickly run a box plot go to the Graphs menu and select Chart Builder.
• In this example we are comparing TV hours across categories of Marital Status.
• Select Boxplot from the Chose from options and select Simple Boxplot. In this
example we want to examine tv watching across categories of marital status. Drag
Marital on the X axis and TV Hours on the Y axis. Click OK. You then have your
boxplot in an output file.
