Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts
The Menomonie Theater Guild is Menomonie’s oldest
community theater organization. Founded in part to
restore the Mabel Tainter after a many-year closure, the
Menomonie Theater Guild has been instrumental in
uniting actors, directors, musicians and a score of other
creative minds for over fifty-five years. Shows are
prepared and tickets sold at the Menomonie Theater
Guild Studio. It is the mission of the Menomonie
Theater Guild to produce plays for community
enjoyment, to provide dramatic recreating for its
participants and to perpetuate and extend the ideals and
objectives of community theater. This organization will
also encourage the preservation of the Mabel Tainter
building as a historic, authentic and cultural institution.
Menomonie Theater Guild
Spring 2015
Hello, dear members of
MTG!
As I near the end of my term on the board of the Menomonie Theater
Guild, I am pleased at what we have accomplished over this past year.
We will have produced four very successful and well-received
productions, we have cut our spending significantly, we have begun to
plan on improving our costume and property storage areas, organize
the scene shop, and will end the year with a positive operating budget
while beginning to pay off the mortgage/loan that had accumulated
over the past several years.
We have already planned a full season for next year, soon to be
announced, including presentations in our own studio and a teen
production in the park this summer.
I hope that you will be able to participate in the volunteer opportunities
that will be presented next year– building sets, creating costumes,
working on lights, sound, and prop crews, and just working on our
building to keep it warm, functional and inviting. We’ll be letting you
know of our needs via email and the newsletter, and how you’ll be able
to sign up.
Thank you for your wonderful support this year, through helping with
productions, performing on stage, and providing extra financial support
through your generous contributions. Thank you for a great year.

A Word From The Director
Greetings from Little Women!
I have to say, first and foremost, that I am an incredibly lucky
director. The speed at which this production is rolling along at is
simply astonishing! Thanks to our amazing set builder, Matthew
Larson, the cast has been able to rehearse on the set since the very
first practice. If you’ve ever been in a show, you know that is
extremely rare! I believe having the finished set right from the
beginning has helped the cast feel confident and comfortable-the
bond that this little troupe has created with each other shines
through into their performance, making them natural and believable.
They are so darn good that they’ve already been making me tear
up a little at rehearsal (think Beth getting her new piano!)
At this point in the production we are a little over halfway to the end.
Lines are almost memorized, blocking is just about finalized and the
beautiful costumes (made by the extremely talented Sue King) are
being tried on, altered and adjusted. Props are slowly being incor-
porated as the casts becomes more comfortable being “off-book.”
It’s an exciting time to be at the helm of such an operation; every
day has a new element!
As many of you know, theater can be stressful. With so many
different components coming together, it’s bound to be-but as of
now, it has been an absolute pleasure to be at the helm of Little
Women. Everyone is collaborative, respectful, and creative-not to
mention flexible when those little bumps in the road pop up, as they
inevitably do!
Again, I am an incredibly lucky director. I can not wait until you can
all enjoy this heart-warming and lovely little show!!.
Warmly,
Katie Shay

I hope that you will be able to participate in the volunteer opportunities that will be presented next year– building sets, creating costumes, working on lights, sound, and prop crews, and just working on our building to keep it warm, functional and inviting. We’ll be letting you know of our needs via email and the newsletter, and how you’ll be able to sign up. Thank you for your wonderful support this year, through helping with productions, performing on stage, and providing extra financial support through your generous contributions. I have to say, first and foremost, that I am an incredibly lucky director. The speed at which this production is rolling along at is simply astonishing! Thanks to our amazing set builder, Matthew Larson, the cast has been able to rehearse on the set since the very first practice. If you’ve ever been in a show, you know that is extremely rare! I believe having the finished set right from the beginning has helped the cast feel confident and comfortable-the bond that this little troupe has created with each other shines through into their performance, making them natural and believable. They are so darn good that they’ve already been making me tear up a little at rehearsal (think Beth getting her new piano!) At this point in the production we are a little over halfway to the end. Lines are almost memorized, blocking is just about finalized and the beautiful costumes (made by the extremely talented Sue King) are being tried on, altered and adjusted. Props are slowly being incor- porated as the casts becomes more comfortable being “off-book.” It’s an exciting time to be at the helm of such an operation; every day has a new element! As many of you know, theater can be stressful. With so many different components coming together, it’s bound to be-but as of now, it has been an absolute pleasure to be at the helm of Little Women. Everyone is collaborative, respectful, and creative-not to mention flexible when those little bumps in the road pop up, as they inevitably do! Again, I am an incredibly lucky director. I can not wait until you can all enjoy this heart-warming and lovely little show!!.
