Girl Scouts Central California South
News Story ideas:
Juliette Gordan Low turns 155 this week
Girls Scouts of Central California South is celebrating Girl Scouts founder, Juliette Gordan Low’s,
155th birthday! There will be a “trick or treat” party at the GSCCS headquarters on Wednesday
Oct. 29. They will be celebrating their amazing founder’s birthday by dressing up, playing
games, and having lots of fun! There will be no cost to attend the birthday party. If you have
any questions please email cblair@girlscoutsccs.org or call (800) 490-8653 ext 119.
Fresno State students help Girl Scouts speak up
Girl Scouts of Central California South is putting on a public speaking badge work shop that
Fresno State students could possibly volunteer to help at. When we were at GSCCS they told us
the girls love to hang out with older girls so this would be an awesome way to have college
women teach young girls valuable lessons. Some college girls will absolutely fall in love with Girl
Scouts and the organization could potentially get more volunteers. Covering this story would
get Girls Scouts attention and maybe more volunteers, readers will find this story heartwarming
and will talk about it with their peers, and it would portray Fresno State and GSCCS in a positive
light. The work shop will be on Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tis the season for Girl Scouts Camps 2015
Not only through summer but also through the fall, Girl Scouts hosts many different camps that
are great learning opportunities for girls to learn various lifelong skills. We are open to ALL girls
ages 5-17, you don’t have to be a Girl Scout to register! Financial aid is also available,
questions? Contact: mloyd@girlscoutsccs.org /This story would cover past successful camps,
how people can get involved and it will also cover upcoming events and inform people how to
sign up for them.
Go Gold! Girl Scout awards
Encouraging girls to take action in their communities is an important part of Girl Scouts! Girl
Scouts seniors and ambassadors are able to receive the gold award, Girl Scout Cadets are able
to receive the silver award, and juniors are able to receive the bronze award. For more facts

Sheet-for-GSCCS-11-19-13.pdf / this story would help encourage Girl Scouts to work harder in
their communities and become more aware of the awards that they can potentially receive.
Girl Scouts are making the Valley a safer place
Girl Scouts of Central California is putting on CPR/First Aid training on Thursday Nov. 12 from 6
p.m. to 9 p.m. It's $20 and the money goes to the local troops /an article written about this
event would be great for GSCCS. GSCCS puts on CPR/First Aid trainings and renewal sessions a
few times a month so covering one and giving out future dates is a great way to give exposure
to Girl Scouts and get members of the community over to the local headquarters.
