Sponsorship for PR in Canada
• If you wish to apply your spouse/partner through
a Family Class Sponsorship. An eligible
sponsor must meet a certain criteria to qualify
such us he or she is willing to provide the
sponsorship undertaking, and has not convicted
under a criminal code in Canada and has not
convicted any registered offence, crime outside
Canada. Preferably the sponsor must not have
any debt or bankruptcy – and has not recently

3. Stage 1 and Stage 2
• There are 2 stages for this type of an application. Stage
one the sponsor will apply for his or her sponsorship of
application to sponsor a certain spouse or partner in
Canada – the burden of proof for stage 1 to get the
approval usually is from the evidence of documents
being presented and submitted by the sponsor to CIC
while for stage 2 the spouse (beneficiary) will also apply
for a permanent resident in Canada under this category
however, please bear in mind that all the completed
forms documents and requirements of both the sponsor
and sponsoring spouse/partner should be submitted at
the same time at CPC- when the sponsor applies for
sponsorship.

4. • They should provide tons of evidence as to regard that
their relationship is genuine and subsisting – otherwise if
the case officer finds it not genuine it may cause your

proceed with the stage 2 – after say the sponsor in

5. Proof of Relationship
• 1. Wedding photos of you and your sponsor
• 2. Evidence of your photos together from the time the relationship has
started till at present, this could be your travel together locally, shopping
together or eating together with friends and families and etc- showing your
previous photos and present that the relationship is subsisting ( put them in
a white bond paper - and arrange according to date).
• 3. Cards, Letters, with post marked envelop- any evidence where you both
share your anniversary birthdays, valentines greeting or even season's
greeting.
• 4. Phone bills - this is an additional evidence where you need to
demonstrate either from the principal applicant or sponsor which reflects the
details of the principal's name or sponsor's name through calling long
distance... or might as well provide Skype conversation, FB conversation
from past to present- that demonstrate the continuous communication even
through means of an online platform and that appears the relationship is
genuine and ongoing, print them too and include in the application.
• 5. Remittance slips- This could be via western union or bank transfer which
is applicable gather the oldest and the present remittances under the name
of Spouse and have them clip or staple all together by date.

6. • 6. Any previous travel locally or internationally, by showing your
passport visa stamp arrival and exit or showing your names together
in an Airline ticket of your travels together if applicable. If the
sponsor has still kept his ticket and hotel booking on how often he
visits your country.
• 7. Joint ownership of property or investment, joint accounts in the
banks.
• 8. Letter from the sponsor on how the relationship has started, how
they met which led to marrying the spouse and eventually living
together to create a family in Canada.
• 9. Letter from the spouse on how the relationship has started and
how it progress.
• 10. At least 2 reference letter from a friend of both parties (Sponsor
and Spouse friends- attestation that they are both in love and the
relationship is genuine. The letters must affix theirs signatures and
contact details and address.
