Research Summary:-
This study attempted to identify the challenging factors for the adoption of ERP/Business applications on
SaaS (Software as a Services) Delivery Model. Some critical factors were identified namely data security,
pricing, Availability, Integration, customization through literature review. Hence to recheck these factors,
primary data was collected from multiple companies covering user, non-user and application providers
companies with the core objective to get holistic responses from them on cloud model. Reliability of
obtained data was tested. Subsequently, statistical data analysis was performed on the collected data.
Complete empirical study of the collected data revealed that five major factors (security, availability,
customization, pricing, integration) are limiting and influencing the SaaS adoption in many Indian
companies.
Data security and Customization have been identified as major challenges involved in the adoption of SaaS
applications. Proposed optimal technical solution for core identified issues (data security and customization)
in SaaS adoption.
For these two core issues identified, optimal technical solutions were developed and tested as detailed
below:
Data Security : Password Protection
Data Security : Data Protection in Database
Customization : Common (Shared database) using single Schema (shared schema)
Customization : Common (Shared database) and separate Schemas
