 Christian Aslund’s (The photographer's ) creative
idea was to shoot models in awkward horizontal
positions on the streets of Hong Kong. This would
make the images appear flat and the scenes
vertical.
 This was done as part of the campaign of the
sneaker band, Jim Rickey.
 As confessed by Christian himself what was the
advertisement a commemoration of ?
Or in other words which legendary game was the
inspiration behind this advertisement ?

 X having a history of more than 1000 years, seems to
have originated in Mongolia and the Jin Dynasty where
the main ingredient was meat, usually beef, mutton or
horse, noodle. It then spread to southern China during
the Song Dynasty and was further established during
the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.
 The earliest Mongolian X simply held water. One of the
most famous variations is the Chongqing X, to which
Sichuan pepper is added.
 Today, families and friends throughout Asia still gather
around steaming X to celebrate, socialize, and escape
from the winter chill. Like a backyard barbecue, X is
much a social event as is an excuse to fire up the
charcoal.
 What is X?
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
 Hotpot
3.
 The X is a length of linen cloth bearing the image of
a man that is believed by some Christians to be the
burial shroud of Jesus of Nazareth.
Three radiocarbon dating tests in 1988 have
concluded that the age of the cloth only goes back
to the Middle Ages. X is kept in the royal chapel of
the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Y,
northern Italy.
 More recently, Pope Francis and his
predecessor Pope Benedict XVI have both
described the X as "an icon" and Pope John Paul
II called it "a mirror of the Gospel".

The Worshipful Companies of London are 108 professions
which have been given the title that is added to their
professions. Each of these companies has a motto. For
example,
 Worshipful Company of World Traders: Commerce and
honest friendship with all
 Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers: Truth is the
Light

 Either give me the person X or the band Y (spelling
variations allowed until and unless u get the drift
correct)
 About X:"Arguably the most influential high school
gym teacher in American popular culture" – The
New York Times.
 X's strict enforcement of a policy against long hair
inspired the members to name their band after
him,who were also his students at a certain Robert
E Lee school.
 The band members wanted to pay a "tongue-in-
cheek homage" to him by renaming themselves as
Y,which is a reference to X.

 Lynyrd Skynyrd(Y)
6.
 Vice president of the brand ‘X’, Jaime Weston had this
to say about a temporary one year break from
tradition/convention.
 " When we developed the ‘X’ logo for 2016, that was the
first time we looked at the letter “L”. Up until that point,
we had only worked with X's, V's and I's. And, at that
moment, that's when we started to wonder: What will
happen when we get to __? "
 Lamar Hunt, who also coined the name ’X’ liked that
similar to the Olympics this convention added pomp and
gravitas to the one game that mattered.
 What is the convention being talked about?

 The earliest T-shirt dates back to sometime
between the Spanish–American War and
1913,when the U.S. Navy began issuing them as
Undergarments . Following World War II, it became
common to see veterans wearing their uniform
trousers with their T-shirts as casual clothing. But
they skyrocketed in popularity in 1950, finally
achieving status as fashionable, stand-alone,
outerwear garments. What caused this? #Pop-

 IN the image is a set of straws which has the ability to
change its colour based on the presence of certain
specific substances.
 Fernando Patolsky, chemistry professor at Tel Aviv
University is credited for developing this “revolutionary
safety object”.
 The Israeli scientists claim that the straws are 100 per
cent accurate in detecting the drugs ketamine and
gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).
 So what specific purpose does this straw serve ?
Image in next slide.

 The laws of the conservative countries of the Islamic
World prohibit women from wearing western clothes,
applying lipstick and make-up, and open hair.
 However, a certain group of around 500 women (40 at
any given point of time) were exempt from these
restrictions for a period of around 3 decades starting
from the early 80s, with the logic that men would be
distracted by their appearance, leaving them less likely
to be attacked. All of them, however, are made to take
an oath after a 3-year course in a government
institution.
 These women however lost their job in 2011 which was
a blessing in disguise for them.
 Who were these women?
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
 Amazonian Guard of Gaddafi .
11.
 During the first general elections , Sukumar Sen,
the CEC, got outraged by a social practise and
directed his officials to correct the electoral rolls by
inserting the names of the women ‘in the place of
mere descriptions of such voters.’
 Nonetheless, some 2.8 million women voters had to
finally be struck off the list.
 He felt that such a step will help in eradicating such
social practise.
 What made him take such drastic step? OR what
correction did he make in the electoral rolls ?
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
MUNNI KI MUMMY ! :P
 Many women in Northern India were reluctant to
register under their own names, wishing instead to
identify themselves as A’s mother or B’s wife.
 Sukumar Sen was appalled by a practice and called
it a curious senseless relic of the past.

 Illma Gore (born 2 March 1992) is an Australian-
American artist, who lives and works in Los Angeles. As
a gender fluid feminist performance and street artist,
Gore's work is based around political topics and the
physical self, the significance and importance we place
on our bodies.
 However these descriptions are insignificant considering
her popularity recently because of one of her paintings
which has been quoted at a base price of 1 million and
has been put on display at Maddox Gallery in Mayfair,
London.
So what painting and why such attention ?
By the way she has been receiving quite a few threats
because of this painting .

 Baumkuchen is a German variety of spit cake. It is
a traditional pastry of many European countries
throughout, and also a popular snack and dessert
in Japan.
 The origins of baumkuchen are a matter of
controversy. One theory claims that baumkuchen
has been created since at least the 19th century in
the German town of Salzwedel; however, the town
itself likes to propagate this story.
 Images of the cake follows.
So what does Baum/Baumchaken translate into?
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
 Tree Cake because of its resemblance to tree rings.
15.
 Initial regulations stated that packages sent via the
U.S. Parcel Post Service (began on January 1,
1913) could not weigh more than 50 pounds.
 In Feb 1914, Mr. and Mrs. Pierstorff were
responsible for a rather bizarre post from
Grangeville, Idaho to Lewiston, Idaho. The
justification for this was penury.
 On 13 June 1920, this practice was officially
forbidden in public interest, after many other such
instances. What peculiar trend was this ?

 Sending children by the postal service, because it
was cheaper than rail travel.

 In the Game 2 of the World Chess Championship
match between Anand and Carlson held in Sochi,
Russia on 9 November, 2014 Vishwanathan Anand
playing with Black used this Defence which had a
reputation for solidity and drawishness.
It didn’t turn out to be a solid move as he blundered
in his 34th move and went on to lose the game in
35 moves.
What defence did he chose on that day and why
wasn’t it historically such a smart move to play
that defence on that very day?
Hints : If teams don’t block.
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
 Anand used the Berlin defence, often known the
Berlin Wall for that match held on November 9th,
2014 which was coincidently the 25th Anniversary
of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

 The first instance of this event was noticed in an
international fixture between Iceland and Belgium
where Rik Coppens and Andre Piters were involved
for Belgium. (1957)
 The first such case in England appeared to come
seven years later when Plymouth took on
Manchester City. (1964)
 In 1982 ,in a match where Helmond Sports Club
was involved, this event re-ocurred.
 Most recently this event has occurred in Feb
2016,which has drawn mixed responses from the
critiques.

 X was a grunge band formed in the 1990’s by Y.
After Y sees his wife and one of her professors from
her university together, he changed the band’s
direction into a wholly different type of music:
“grunge”. The band is then named X. Some of the
band’s best songs are Margerine, Shave Me and
Politically Incorrect. The group broke up sometime
later because, according to Kurt Loder, Y holed
himself up in his mansion, when rumors swirled
about an out of control narcotic addiction, which
actually turned out to be insulin because he
became diabetic due to his addiction to a certain
drink. X?
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
19.
 X had written in his autobiography that his family, the
Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu family had adopted
the surname Panvelkar at the time they resided in
Panvel. Before that, they were known as Dhodapkars
because one of X's ancestors was the kiladar of the
Dhodap fort in the Nashik district during the medieval
era. Kiladar was the title given by Mughal rulers to the
custodians of the forts under their control. Though X's
father had later decided that their original family name
__________ would be better, X decided to slightly alter
his surname in order to convey his admiration to the
British author Y, who was born in India.

_________ voice, formally called buccal speech, is
an alaryngeal form of vocalization which uses the
inner cheek to produce sound rather than
the larynx. This is most closely associated with
Clarence Nash, who we have all heard.
Nash discovered buccal speech while trying to
mimic his pet goat Mary. But the man he was
working for interpreted it to be another animal, and
the rest is history . Either FITB, or tell me what Nash
is most famous for?

 Following a physically testing few years, this person quit
his world famous exploits in a certain profession in
2001 and decided to take a new calling. The Andhra
Pradesh government has helped his cause by gifting
him 5 acres of land in a prime location. It started
functioning by 2003 and has churned out my world
renowned professionals.
 Confessed to be a hard task master who turns down
daily two new entrants, he also ran into “rough weather”
with his most famous protégé 2 years back and moved
elsewhere to train under a different tutelage .

 Last September British Airways announced a maiden flight
to a certain British overseas territory which until then had
only British Royal Ship as one of the only means of
communication .
 It was made famous in the 19th century(almost mid)
because of its seclusion, it has been a subject of bilateral
diplomatic relations-with Britain willfully acceding a certain
house to a country(in 1858) that viewed it as a national
heritage.
 For 25 years it was used for a specific purpose.
 Give me the name of the British Territory and what pupose
did it serve ? The territory is also Britain’s second oldest
remaining overseas territory with the oldest being Bermuda.

 This building(image in next slide) was once audaciously
planned to be the site of Chelsea’s new home ground(at
least they could have got rid of their “rentboys” tags :P ).
 This building has been referenced multiple times in
music , movies and other media , most notably
appearing in the Pink Floyd’s 1977 album ANIMALS .
 Hitchcock’s “Sabotage” also opened with an image of
this building.
 But this 42-acre building is not used for the purpose it
was originally meant to and has been sold off to be
made into a complex which would consist of nearly 1300
apartments .

 First discovered by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance
Orbiter in 2010, it is believed that there are about 3200
of these cracks discovered in at least 75% of moon’s
surface.
 They are believed to be as young as 100 million years.
 On its own, such shrinkage would result in a random
distribution of cracks - but that's not what the
researchers discovered. "There is a pattern in the
orientations of the thousands of faults, and it suggests
something else is influencing their formation, something
that's also acting on a global scale," lead researcher
and Smithsonian scientist, John Watters, said in a press
release. "That something is the X( 3 words ).“ X has
been omnipresent .

 These entity received huge popularity because of an
activity done in the forest and meadows because of
the stringent laws of the state.
 They were basically strips of metal to which appropriate

 On the seabed off the coast of Lanzarote, British artist
Jason deCaires Taylor is creating an extraordinary
series of underwater artworks with concrete figures
representing desperate refugees. It is titled as Europe’s
first underwater sculpture museum.
 The images of the sculpture been thrown on to the
seabed bears stark similarity with an incident in the early
19th century best depicted by a painting of the same age
.
 The incident occurred around present day Mauritiana
and went on to become an international scandal, in part
because its cause was widely attributed to the
incompetence of the French captain.

 When the Royal Navy vessels would enter a port it
was quite common for the prostitutes there to climb
up and offer their services to the men onboard.
They would generally go the _____ deck, for that’s
the only place where they’d be allowed some
privacy. Should the prostitute subsequently fall
pregnant by the sailor, she would then attempt to
obtain compensation from the father or the navy for

 One of the primary reasons in rise in water contamination in
USA over the past few years is the excessively high amount of
arsenic present in the soil.
 The origin of this high arsenic level goes back to the latter
half of the 19th century to a certain profession that used
arsenic for its purpose of mass transportation across
various parts of the country.
 Although Arsenic was banned in the 20th century still that
“profession” has caused enough damage to the soil whose
effect can still be felt.
 So what is the profession ? Or why did arsenic usage become
suddenly very popular at that point of time ?
 This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
 Embalming ..Arsenic was the chief embalming fluid
used during the civil war. IT prevented corpses from
decaying while they were being transported.

Vithal, a 20th century icon in the Mumbai who was known for
his swashbuckling stunts.
 First recognized in 1924, he joined the Sharada studio to hone
his skills further. However this association was punctured
when he was enticed by another project(1931)and was keen
to be a part of it at the expense of the existing contract.
 He was sued because of this sudden decision by the parent
company, because according to him he “was destined for
much greater things”. He was defended by a lawyer(also
labelled best Leagle Eagle in Bombay )who had also
embarked upon a stage career with a Shakesperean company
while he studied law in England.

 Earlier this year, The house of Lords decreed to stop a
certain practice for financial reasons. However the
cabinet has swooped in and has decided to pay the
money for the continuation of that practice .
 Critics have long called for a digitalized version but the
authorities have claimed that “this version” is more
durable their explanation being – “ we do not know what
path digital technology will take in the future. With this
we know at least where we are.”
 Animal Rights activists have also voiced their opinion
against the continuation of this practice .
 So what practice ? And why are the Animal Rights
activists suddenly involved ?

was produced by Ashok Amritraj and Murali Manohar,
with Prasanth, Aishwarya Rai and Nassar in the lead
roles ). The song was written by the film's noted musical
duo, composer A. R. Rahman and lyricist Vairamuthu.
 While the shooting of this song was supposed to take
place for only 30 days, the Paris leg of their shooting got
delayed due to a certain tragic incident that caused
security to be heightened in Paris and clearances to
shoot in and around the Eiffel Tower became tough to
obtain.

  • 4. 1  Christian Aslund’s (The photographer's ) creative idea was to shoot models in awkward horizontal positions on the streets of Hong Kong. This would make the images appear flat and the scenes vertical.  This was done as part of the campaign of the sneaker band, Jim Rickey.  As confessed by Christian himself what was the advertisement a commemoration of ? Or in other words which legendary game was the inspiration behind this advertisement ?  Pic in the next slide .

  • 8. 2.  X having a history of more than 1000 years, seems to have originated in Mongolia and the Jin Dynasty where the main ingredient was meat, usually beef, mutton or horse, noodle. It then spread to southern China during the Song Dynasty and was further established during the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.  The earliest Mongolian X simply held water. One of the most famous variations is the Chongqing X, to which Sichuan pepper is added.  Today, families and friends throughout Asia still gather around steaming X to celebrate, socialize, and escape from the winter chill. Like a backyard barbecue, X is much a social event as is an excuse to fire up the charcoal.  What is X?
  • 9.  This Slide has been intentionally kept Blank.
  • 11. 3.  The X is a length of linen cloth bearing the image of a man that is believed by some Christians to be the burial shroud of Jesus of Nazareth.
