The document summarizes key information about bivalves, including their anatomy, habitat, feeding, reproduction, pearl formation, and internal anatomy. Bivalves have two shells held together by adductor muscles, gills for oxygen intake from water, and a mantle that secretes their shell. Most bivalves are sessile filter feeders that live on or burrow into the seafloor, though some like mussels and scallops can attach or swim. They have separate sexes and external fertilization and development. Pearls sometimes form as a protective response in oysters.
The document summarizes the ecosystem of Saint Martin Island located in Bangladesh. It describes the island's location in the Bay of Bengal and its key habitats including rocky areas, sand dunes and beaches, lagoons and wetlands, mangroves, and mudflats. It then discusses the island's flora including trees, palms, mangroves and shrubs. Finally, it outlines the main fauna found on the island such as echinoderms, corals, molluscs, crustaceans, fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals. The island contains a diverse ecosystem but development pressures are threatening some species and habitats. Coordinated conservation efforts are needed to protect the island's biodiversity
Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park is a beautiful place, located in the Ramanathpuram & Tuticorin districts of the state of Tamil Nadu. The park is the core area of the Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve. This is the first marine Biosphere Reserve in India. It was established in the year of 1980. Total area of the park is 6.23 Km 2.
The Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park is a protected area of India consisting of 21 small islands (islets) and adjacent coral reefs in the Gulf of Mannar in the Indian Ocean. It lies 1 to 10 km away from the east coast of Tamil Nadu, India for 160 km between Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) and Dhanushkodi.
The Gulf of Mannar (/ m ə ˈ n ɑːr / mə- NAR) is a large shallow bay forming part of the Laccadive Sea in the Indian Ocean. It lies between the west coast of Sri Lanka and the southeastern tip of India, in the Coromandel Coast region.
The Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park (GOM MNP) comprises of 21 islands surrounded by coral reef areas along with shallow water habitat of unique marine biodiversity. Sea horse, Sea Cow, Dolphins, sea cucumbers etc. are seen here.
9.267°N 77.433°E / 9.267; 77.433 Ramanathapuram District is an administrative district of Tamil Nadu state in southern India. The town of Ramanathapuram is the district headquarters. Ramanthapuram District has an area of 4123 km 2.
The document provides an introduction to corals and coral reefs. It discusses the largest coral reef structure, the Great Barrier Reef, and explains that corals are made up of living polyps that contain photosynthetic algae called zooxanthellae. This mutualism between corals and zooxanthellae is key to the formation and diversity of coral reefs. However, coral reefs are now threatened by bleaching events and other human and environmental stressors that disrupt this relationship.

The document discusses various types of allowances that must be made when designing patterns for sand casting, including shrinkage allowance to account for metal contraction during cooling, draft allowance to facilitate pattern removal from molds, machining allowance for parts requiring high dimensional accuracy or surface finish, distortion allowance for parts prone to warping, and rapping allowance to account for mold cavity enlargement during pattern removal. It provides tables of typical shrinkage allowances by material and dimension, machining allowances by material and dimension, and explains how to calculate pattern dimensions when only shrinkage allowance is considered.

Wwf Italia : primo rapporto_biodiversita___uso_stampa 3- 12- 2013WWF ITALIA

3. 0Per specie aliena,
in biologia, si
intende una
qualsiasi specie vivente
(animale, vegetale o fungo)
che, a causa dell'azione
dell'uomo (intenzionale o
accidentale), si trova ad
abitare e colonizzare un
territorio diverso dal
suo areale storico. In tal
caso, si parla anche di
specie alloctona.
Che
cosa
sono?
In questi
specie autoctone.
persino all'estinzione.
economico. In Europa si stima che siano
state introdotte oltre 13000 specie aliene, e
che oltre 1300 di queste causino impatti
negativi sull'ambiente
11. Come si muovono i ricerctori…
0Frontiers in Marine Science ha pubblicato lo studio
“Invading the Mediterranean Sea: biodiversity
13. Dai trasporti marittimi…
0La distribuzione delle specie introdotte dai
trasporti marittimi è molto diversa, con
diversi hotspot in tutto il bacino del
Mediterraneo , ed di due hotspot principali
per le specie allevate introdotte sono le
lagune di Thau e Venezia. Nella Laguna
Veneta ci sono almeno 60 specie aliene,
soprattutto alghe
14. 0Secondo Katsanevakis, «Utilizzando le
informazioni dal Easin (European Alien
Species Information Network), potremmo
mappare in dettaglio come mai finora quanto
si sia già diffusa ogni specie aliena».
16. 0La nuova piattaforma
Easin facilita
l’esplorazione di
informazioni sulle specie
aliene esistenti
permettendo di attingere
ad una varietà di fonti di
informazioni, sviluppando
e rendendo liberamente
disponibili strumenti e
servizi web interoperabili
conformi agli standard
riconosciuti a livello
internazionale.
Che
cosa fa
la
EASIN?
17. 0La Ciesm (Commission Internationale
pour l’Exploration
Scientifique de la Méditerranée) ha a
tal riguardo censito nel Mediterraneo
565 specie alloctone appartenenti a
diversi gruppi vegetali e animali (132
vegetali, 25 celenterati, 16 briozoi, 141
molluschi, 59 anellidi, 60 crostacei, 12
ascidiacei, 120 pesci). Di queste, 185
sarebbero già presenti nei mari italiani.
18. L’arrivo di nuove specie
ittiche provenienti da aree
tropicali extramediterranee
ha assunto negli ultimi 30
anni un significativo
incremento.
19. . Il fenomeno è in questo caso da
associare soprattutto a
spostamenti migratori indotti
dai cosiddetti “cambiamenti
globali” attribuibili alla
perdurante anomalia climatica e
al complessivo surriscaldamento
del clima, dei mari e degli
oceani.
20. .
Anche se il fattore
determinante è da attribuire
all’aumento della
temperatura, pare che altre
variabili abbiano contribuito
al consolidamento di tale
tendenza.
