Stephen Toulmin developed a method for logically presenting arguments that includes a claim, data to support the claim, a warrant to connect the data to the claim, backing to support the warrant, a counterclaim, and a rebuttal to refute the counterclaim. His model is commonly used to organize arguments and has six main components - the claim, data, warrant, backing, counterclaim, and rebuttal.
