VLAN
Implementati
on in VMware
vSphere setup
• Objective: To implement VLAN in VMware setup to segregate
virtual machines Production and non-production
• Client : Government Local body, Mumbai
• Source Environment . Unstructured setup with prod and non-prod
traffic sharing the network.
• Target Environment: Structured virtual network setup with traffic
separated for production, non-production and management
• Challenges: Unavailability of VLAN setup in physical network
infrastructure. Multiple stake holders and many responsible teams
with divided responsibilities.
• Approach: Separate traffic physically by separate NICs and extend
the same using multiple virtual switches and port groups.
• Solution Provided : Created VLANs in physical N/W setup, created

  • 3. VLAN Implementati on in VMware vSphere setup • Objective: To implement VLAN in VMware setup to segregate virtual machines Production and non-production • Client : Government Local body, Mumbai • Source Environment . Unstructured setup with prod and non-prod traffic sharing the network. • Target Environment: Structured virtual network setup with traffic separated for production, non-production and management • Challenges: Unavailability of VLAN setup in physical network infrastructure. Multiple stake holders and many responsible teams with divided responsibilities. • Approach: Separate traffic physically by separate NICs and extend the same using multiple virtual switches and port groups. • Solution Provided : Created VLANs in physical N/W setup, created three standard vSwitches which separated production, non- production and management traffic. Application level traffic is separated using port groups PROJECT Crystal Solutions Ltd. A GLOBAL SERVICES DELIVERY ORGANISATION Back to 1st Slide
  • 4. Large Scale Veritas NetBackup Implementati on • Objective: Implemented NetBackup for multiple locations across India with inter-site replication and disaster recovery. • Client : Telecom and Hosting infra services provider • Target Environment: NetBackup 8.1.1 on RHEL 7.5 • Solution Provided :  Installed NetBackup Master and Media servers for each location.  Installed NetBackup Clients on all servers to be backed up.  Configured RMAN scripts for Oracle database backup.  Configured batch scripts for MS SQL Server database backup.  Designed Backup Policies.  Scheduled backups for all clients.  Restore testing of backups.
