IBM Notes and Domino 9 Social Edition software is the latest culmination of more than 20 years of collaboration leadership. IBM Notes software activates business creativity and workforce productivity with a modern, social user interface that delivers in-context access to email, calendars, contacts and business-critical information—right from the inbox. Features include: ●●●Embedded experiences: Interact with content, including documents, images, videos and forms, from applications directly inside your email, all delivered through industry- standard OpenSocial 2.0 containers. ●●●Activity streams: Find out what your network is up to with an aggregated view of social information streams, such as microblogs, corporate and public social networks, social content management systems, and other socially enabled applications, and comment, share and act on that information straight from your Notes environment. ●●●Discover page: Find information more quickly and easily, including what’s new in the current release; introductory material for new users; helpful hints and tips; and a “Quick Links” tab that allows you to launch your workspace, mail, calendar and other Notes applications with one click. ●●●Additional enhancements: Use a new, customizable icons menu bar; improved LiveText actions; faster email previewing, sort- ing, searching and filtering; calendar scroll-through viewing by month and color coding by category; and better management of widgets through the sidebar panel. Deliver messaging and applications to the web without sacrificing capability
IBM iNotes® software provides access to email, calendar and social collaboration tools within a zero-footprint, easy-to-use browser experience. The software supports a variety of web browsers across multiple platforms, including desktop, mobile, kiosk and shared systems. Because iNotes software is built for performance on high- and low-speed networks as well as mobile devices, you can spend less time waiting and more time work- ing. Most important, iNotes software now provides a comprehensive social email experience, including activity streams and embedded experiences. In fact, for most users, iNotes software provides the same experience as Notes software, making it ideal for organizations that need to rapidly provision and remove users or that want to minimize desktop footprints.

Complementing iNotes software, the new IBM Notes Browser Plug-in allows users to work with other Notes applications directly in a browser. Users can interact with their daily work right from the browser instead of having to connect through their Notes desktop client. For organizations seeking to downsize infrastructure yet still maintain on-premises control, Domino software helps reduce the need for hardware-oriented resources that can consume an IT budget, such as power consumption, memory, data storage and the labor required for administrative tasks. The software also decreases required disk usage and network input–output using advanced compression features for applications containing lengthy documents, rich text and graphics images. And the Domino attachment and object service helps reduce storage and management by storing a single copy of an attachment on the server. Domino software continues to incorporate security-rich capabilities, with a built-in public key infrastructure that authenticates IBM Notes users and servers, verifies digital signatures, and encrypts messages and applications, including individual fields within applications. The software supports X.509 Internet certificates and helps government agencies that require products that conform to Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2. Keep tight control on access by using control lists that specify an access level, access level privileges, a user type, and one or more roles. Clustering technology allows you to tie multiple Domino servers together to create a seamless experience and enable a highly available, high-performance messaging or application environment. Users can gain access to current business data as applications continually replicate throughout servers, synchronizing for consistency.
The latest release provides key capabilities for effective administration and development: ●●●Domino software now supports Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) from the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), allowing administrators to configure federated-identity authentication and single sign-on. ●●●Administrators can prevent incoming return receipt requests while preventing client users from using settings for a return receipt on outgoing messages. ●●●Server-side JavaScript (SSJS) Debugger in Domino Designer software now allows you to debug against either the Domino Designer local preview server or a Domino server. For years, IBM XPages technology has helped in-house or independent developers create thousands of social business desktop and mobile applications with a document-driven, NoSQL architecture that includes an integrated workflow engine and support for open web standards and for representa- tional state transfer (REST) interfaces. And new XPages enhancements include OpenSocial gadget controls, content assist, hyperlink navigation, hover help, memory management improvements, HTML5 and portable network graphics (PNG) file support.
