Microsoft donated $30,860 worth of software to Mazingira Youth Network including OfficeProPlus 2013, Windows MultiPoint Server, and Windows 8.1. The letter provided details on accessing the software licenses through the Volume Licensing Service Center and instructions for downloading, installing, and managing the software and licenses. It also described the two years of included Software Assurance benefits like upgrades, support, and training resources.
Microsoft donates a broad range of software to nonprofits and libraries through TechSoup, and we want to help you take advantage of these donations. But who has the time to be an expert?
We do! TechSoup Talks has organized this special webinar to sort through what types of software are available, as well as additional nonprofit resources offered through Microsoft’s donation program. We will also go over some benefits automatically included with all Microsoft software donations, including the ability to download donated software, the opportunity to upgrade for free to new versions of software as they come out, and access to free e-learning courses for Microsoft products.
Kami Griffiths will interview Sarah Hiller from Microsoft Community Affairs, who will help us understand the benefits available through their donation program and show us around the resources available in their Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). We will also hear from TechSoup’s Cameron Jones and Gregory Seeley, who will outline what Microsoft products are available through TechSoup and how to best find what you’re looking for.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Downloading Software and Ordering Media
If this donation includes software media, it will be shipped within the
next 1-2
weeks. The software media consists of installation CDs or DVDs in a jewel
case or
plastic sleeve. You can also download and install any available version or
language
for your product, as long as the total number of installations does not
exceed the
number of licenses you were granted.
To find instructions for downloading or ordering media choose Help from the
VLSC
menu bar and click the name of the FAQ that relates to your question. You
can also
contact the support center for your country. To find the support center
contact
information, click Contact Us near the bottom of the Help page, select your
region
from the map, and select your country from the drop-down list. Downloading
costs
nothing, and there is a minimal cost for delivery of new media.

Software Assurance Benefits
Software Assurance (SA) is a maintenance offer that helps your organization
get the
most from Microsoft software through a broad range of benefits. From
deployment
planning and staff training to product support and software upgrades, SA
benefits
help increase productivity, accelerate organizational performance, and
realize a
return on software investment faster. SA benefits come with most of the
volume
license software available for donation through Microsoft Citizenship &
Public
Affairs and our partners. Get Genuine operating systems do not include SA
benefits.
Your software licenses include two years of software assurance benefits.
Software
Assurance benefits are not the same as product licenses. Product licenses
do not
expire and are valid for as long as you own the product. SA benefits expire
after
two years, though they can be renewed for a fee. Benefits must be renewed
before the
SA expiration date; there is no grace period. SA benefits add value to your
products
but are not part of them.
SA benefits include free software upgrades, Office Multi-Language Packs,
Office
suites for use at home, E-Learning courses, and cold backups, access to
TechNet
services, availability to install Windows 7 Enterprise, License Mobility,
Windows
Virtual Desktop access, Roaming Use Rights, and access to Windows Thin PC.
Automatic Upgrades with Software Assurance
If a product you receive through this donation is upgraded within the next
two years
and is on the list of products covered by Software Assurance, the donated
licenses
will automatically convert to the newest version of the software.
